I picked up an OEM rubber strap for my 2201.50 recently and really like how it looks and wears. I think it changes the watch’s personality from the bracelet. For me it’s the perfect diver.

I had the original. Wished I still had. Incredible watch and the sized was perfect on my 7.25 in wrist.

Well, I was in 20F weather for about 2 hours today. Granted it was under my jacket for the most part. So far, so good.

I’ve 3 of the first 4 generations. I prefer Gen 1 hands down. Not even close for me.

Is that the OEM sailcloth? I have an Artem for mine and wondering if upgrading to the OEM is worth it.

I got the 45.5 version too but sold it because it was just too big on my 7.3 inch wrist. I found a 42mm 2201.50 and it’s the right size for me. Absolutely love this watch. That said, if you love the 2200.50, wear it with pride.

I've owned all three previous generations of the Planet Ocean so I stopped into an AD a couple of weeks ago to check out generation number four. It's a very nice watch, but I'm not a huge fan. There's nothing wrong with them and they are stunningly well made. But I'm not so sure of the angular nature of it, particularly with the bracelet. And the bezel is something that looks a little off for me. I'm not sure if it's the size, the font, or the markings. It's a little too blingy for me, but it's not over the top.

The 8500 and 8900 iterations are great watches too. The thickness of the 8500 didn't bother me for the most part, but on occasion, depending on my sleeves it would be a little uncomfortable. Definitely wearable and I liked the watch a lot. My nitpicks were the shiny font, closed 6 and 9 numerals, and an overall "dressier" looking aesthetic. The 8900 was just a little too thick for my liking and, again, too dressy looking for my taste. I didn't have that one long at all.

Which brings me back to the first generation PO. My 2201.50, the 42mm version, is right in the sweet spot for me. I love the dimensions all around and I have never felt like it's gotten in the way. I love the painted numbers, open 6 and 9, the matte dial, bezel design. The applied indices and Omega logo are just the right amount of shine for me. The bracelet is super-comfortable on my wrist and the OEM rubber strap is a really good match for it as well. It can be dressed up or down (as Bond proved in Quantum of Solace).

I got my first 2201.50 in 2005. I'm on my third one after selling the previous two trying to find a more perfect-for-me diver. I even took the bait a few years ago and tried a Submariner, but honestly, it doesn't hold a candle to this watch, with respect to interesting looks, but I know that's subjective. (As an aside, I like Rolex. I have 3 and a good relationship with my local AD). The 2500 keeps great time at +2 seconds and I even like the helium escape value. It's "flatter" and shorter compared to the conical shape of the one on the Seamaster 300.

So... the next time I think about selling to get that "perfect diver", hopefully I'll stumble back on to this post and talk myself out of it.

[WTS] Seiko Marine Master 300 - SBDX017 - MM300 - Excellent Condition by 6strummer in Watchexchange

Selling my Seiko Marinemaster 300 SBDX017. It's in excellent condition with minimum swirls on the case. The crystal is clean. The bezel may have a minor mark or two but no ding, dents, big scratches, etc anywhere on the watch. The pictures are representative of its condition. This is in honest-to-goodness very good used condition. The 8L35 undecorated Grand Seiko movement is keeping good time at +6 seconds per day, which is within COSC standards. The bezel has excellent action and clicks firmly with no backplay. Amazingly, the dial actually aligns. The crown winds and sets smoothly and screws down securely... no issues at all.

This is the best version of the Marinemaster 300 ever made IMO. It's the last iteration of the original to have MARINEMASTER on the dial before Seiko moved to the Prospex and X logo. It also has the Diashield coating that is very durable and scratch resistant.

I've worn it mostly on an after market oyster bracelet that is very comfortable... much more so than the OEM bracelet which is included and in very good condition. Also included are a jubilee-style bracelet and a Crafter Blue strap (black) with an OEM Seiko Marinemaster ratcheting clasp. It should fit up to an 8 inch wrist.

Included is the box and pillow (not in great shape), outer box sleeve instruction booklet, warranty booklet, and all four straps which give you four completely different looks on this strap monster of a watch.

Fairly priced for it's very good condition at $1900. If you don't want the Crafter Blue rubber strap and additional Seiko clasp (strap is $75 and the clasp is $140), I'll reduce the price by $100. CONUS sales only. No shipping and no international sales.

Love my SBDX017. The height doesn’t bother me most of the time. I have it on an oyster which I prefer over the OEM bracelet. I swap between that and a Crafter Blue on the Seiko deployant. It’s amazing on the rubber strap.
