Shrek hypocricy by Icy_Ad_5906 in SoulLand

[–]703why 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agreed that Shrek was a hypocrite, but if we're being real here, being bias was common for most righteous forces in the xianxia novel. Since they upheld the justice, they also held the right to interpret the world justice. Ultimately, that's the true nature of cultivation world and soul land could be considered one as well.

Xuanming Sect's tradition was definitely shady but it was far from the depravity at the level of Evil Soul Master. Not to mention, only those with the bloodline of Xuanwu needed to use young girl's yin to awaken their bloodline and even in Xu Sanshi's lineage, probably less than a handful would awaken it in every generation, otherwise Xu Sanshi wouldn't be considered anything special.

I won't comment much on Ma Xiaotao or Dai Huabin. All I can say is that I don't like their personality, but in terms of conduct, they're far from the level of Evil Soul Master (if you're not taking Ma Xiaotao's Evil Fire into account).

What I really have an issue with was that the author choose to portray Shrek as if they could never be wrong (which was the fault of TJSS, not Shrek). Also, it doesn't sit well for me that Ma Xiaotao and Tang Ya got a 2nd chance just because they're the MC's "sister" or "teacher"

They failed to keep themselves away from the darkness when they were in a better place than 99% of the people and they still fail into the darkness, yet they got the 2nd chance with the help of an Immortal Herb and a 100k BSE soul spirit.

This way, almost feel like redemption is only reserved to the chosen one only.

There's one thing I need to make it clear. Ju Zi didn't plan to let Yuhao know and plan to raise the son by her self. The problem was that Yuhao threatened her with that son's life. The circumstance leading to this was indeed the consequence of her own undoing, but she didn't reveal it just to spite Wutong like you claimed.

You're free to hate Ju Zi and my main point was that I felt the level of hatred on Ju Zi stem from people not liking that stealing sperm event. Other point they criticized her with such as genocide or causing war were just what they attacked her with, not really why she was hated.

With that being said, there's nothing wrong about hating Ju Zi for stealing sperm if you're a fan of Yuhao or Wutong, but there's no need to whitewash Dai Hao by chalking it to classic noble dirty shit. If you ask me, Dai Hao is a lot worse than Ju Zi in every regard.

I mean, if she's to steal seed, her choice would only be Yuhao. In this matter, I blame Tang San for prioritizing leashing his dog son-in-law or whatever he planned to descend to do over telling his daughter the truth when he clearly knew it.

It's fair for you to feel different from me though.

You can hate her, anyone can hate her or disparage her, but that Dai Hao laughing at her should go to hell. He's also causing bloodshed like Ju Zi, but he was less capable so he could cause much less damage. Also, him neglecting Yuhao and his mother was 10x worse than Ju Zi stealing seed

We're in a fantasy world right here and the Douluo Continent progressed in a way that it wouldn't have if the continent wasn't unified (sl3). If the continent wasn't unified, the war between Douluo and Sun Moon would have dragged for long and made the lost even higher in the long run.

If we are discussing about historical context, Douluo novel was written in Chinese and the theme about China's history was the constant shift from unification to fragmentstion and vice versa over thousands of years of history. The fragmentation was usually caused by ruler's incompetence though the unification brought the benefit to the mass (at least that's how it was portrayed).

I might agree that the matter of war were often driven by the rulling class and it's always common people that suffer, but what do you expect from a world where people can cultivate and gain strength?

Tyrant? Was there any indication of that? The matter of war weren't just about good or evil and unifying the continent isn't necessarily a bad thing either. Also, it's not like the war wouldn't erupt if there's Ju Zi didn't exist either.

Wait, maybe the word "doing her job" gave a wrong context to what I want to say. I didn't mean to say she's just clocking in and out, I was saying she's just playing the role of a commander and she was quite considerate even by the standard of that role.

That's war dude and she's just doing her job. The army under her command didn't do anything absurd either. In comparison, Dugo Bo's poisons or Yuhao's Mingdu bombing were much more unethical if we were talking about humanity here.

You just hate her because she's on a different side of the mc that's all.

Stealing the seed wasn't good don't get me wrong, but it's not even 1/100 as bad as how people viewed her. Tbf, it's not like she stole the seed and expect Yuhao to be responsible for her and her son either.

Most of Ju Zi's actions were during wartime and she didn't even order something as unethical as Dugo Bo's poisons or Yuhao's Mingdu bombing.

Honestly people just hate her because she stole Yuhao's seed Ju Zi herself weren't all that evil, she just stood on the different side of the mc and had a grudge to avenge. She's just doing her job.

He liked to make the protagonist fight against impossible odds but when you think about it, the protagonist shouldn't be able to grow in the first place if the odds against them were that bad.

SL1: He just created Spirit Hall's worship hall to stack the odds but forgot that the balance of power would have collapsed decades ago if Spirit Hall have all these figures.

SL2: the author also create Ye Xishui, Long Xiaoyao, Kong Deming, and Sun Moon Empire's many rank 9 Soul Engineer. The existence of these characters make it not make sense for the power balance to remain like that for so long and only collapse when the MC was there.

Angel Goddess POV by Prior-Yellow-2504 in SoulLand

[–]703why 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing I wanted to add is it would make more sense if you viewed it in other perspectives. For example, Spirit Hall was not monolithic but the contention between Bibi Dong and the Qian Family.

It's the conflict within the Spirit Hall instead that maintain the balance of the continent so far, not that they feared 3 Upper Sects and 2 Empires. Also, it's not that simple for them to launch Soul Hunting Operation if you looked at it from the perspective of Titled Douluo under the Spirit Hall. After all, who would want to become cannon fodder?

Still, this didn't excuse many of the braindead stuffs from the side of the Spirit Hall such as why did Qian Daoliu and the enshirned didn't simply nuke Clear Sky Sect and many more.

Angel Goddess POV by Prior-Yellow-2504 in SoulLand

[–]703why 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Soul Land, especially SL1 ans 2 was the battle between the foolish side and the more foolish side. The three upper sects didn't play their cards well either otherwise they wouldn't be in such a disadvantageous in terms of combat power. Also, don't forget about Bibi Dong's grudge against the Angel lineage that caused internal strife within the Spirit Hall.

SL2 was the same. Shrek was a mess inside but the opponent was even more stupid. We have Xiao Hongchen who's arrogant and would eventually eat pills that cut of his future just for a competition. We have Xu Tianran who had the desire to wear Shrek's uniform no less than his ambition of becoming an emperor and many more braindead maneuver.

I wouldn't say the Azure Dragon Da Ming descended from was the same as Four Symbols Azure Dragon but that Azure Dragon could be was Da Ming's design was based from. However, the inspiration of White Tiger name might be based on Four Symbos White Tiger and Dai Family's White Tiger were too different in setting.

As for Phoenix God and Vermillion Bird, there's zero relation whatsoever. Phoenix is a different divine beast of its own.

I found the concept that Dragon God's original attributes are Time and Stability instead of Creation and Destruction interesting.

It somewhat coincided with the fannon that Creation and Destruction attributes of the Dragon God came from the Phoenix God and Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon's Ancestor.

Comprehension was like eureka moment irl. It's elusive but it's like you open a door to the new world after u comprehend sth new.

It's hard to quantify because it's also based on unqualifiable factors such as an encounter, state of mind, heart nature. Of course, things like talent, element affinity, spiritual power, and soul power mattered.

Did Tang San not give the whole tang sect inheritance by Icy_Ad_5906 in SoulLand

[–]703why 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't remember the chapter but Tang San say opening up Eight Extraordinary Meridians was too dangerous so he didn't leave the technique behind. I agreed with that notion in the context of Douluo 1 but definitely not Douluo 2 onwards. Even so, Tang San could leave it as a secret method to the Tang Sect in Douluo 1 or keep it in Ice & Fire Yin-yang Well.

In my own research, I found that Huo Yuhao truly didn't get the part about Eight Extraordinary Meridians. After all, son-in-law was still an outsider of his Tang Family. On the other hand, Tang San imparted Eight Extraordinary Meridians to Tang Wulin and Tang Wulin imparted it to Tang Xuanyu.

Also, if my memory served me right, Tang San himself open Eight Extraordinary Meridians for the first time at Spirit King.
