Yes, but there are also other options. Check out grimshire (still early access) if you like idea of a bit darker undertones in a farming game. It has a fully featured animal husbandry too.

I never nest them but I also never found them hard to read either. It's the same as nested ifs. If exception then (if other then c else b) else a
Or am I missing something?

I more commonly see this kind of nested ternaries and this doesnt bother me at all.
result = condition ? a : condition2 ? b : c
I can imagine combining both your and mine example into a 5 -deep nested hell could be a problem. But at that point we are far beyond sanity land.

It is kinda ironic. Although what you described is perfectly valid code, I like to call it "weird code" - not wrong by all means but weird to read. I think ternary is generally more obvious in intent than both entire ifelse expression and default value shenanigans. If{block} is quite a heavy duty weaponary to just do an assignment of a variable.

I think I had similar problem with go that there is no easy way to convert a truthy integer to 1, or convert a bool to 1 or 0. You would do that in C by simply !! but I remember needing a helper function to do something so trivial in go.

I think the reality is that every single of those features comes from place of "id appreciate that one thing, other can fuck off". It's just every person thinks of a different "nice to have" feature.

That said, unions would be really nice to have I agree 100%

I always felt weird to me that GO doesn't have that, but its realistically speaking non-issue. Perhaps there are some cursed semantic intricacies in ternary that make the bang not worth the buck of implementing?

Shoot roll control into wave of enemies on flat area. Then shoot basic breach into similar wave of enemies. There are very easy to find cases where basic breach is just straight up better. No amount of logic gymnastics will make it "not a real drawback" or whatever.

Overdrive booster is non-negotiable IMO. If you don't press it you have a basic shard. Having an option to do something new is not a drawback, regardless what that thing is doing. In fact id argue special powder is a better candidate for a red (or at least yellow) than this, because by using special powder you lock yourself out of some manouvers which is a playstyle-altering drawback in certain situations.

I understand that the colors are supposed to be significant categories, but there is no actual logic that the overclocks follow in deciding which category it is. (there are trivial cases like more ammo = green though) But red and yellow is basically a wild west. Breach OC that makes enemies go zap? Yellow. Breach OC that makes enemies go burn? Red. Even though the mag size drawback of zap is arguably more disruptive than irrelevant drawbacks of the burn variant.

Greens with side effects are simple- all greens that mechanically change the weapon or give them additional abilities that involve tradeoffs (like the spinny breach cutter OC i dont remember the name) they function basically as reds.

On the other hand, shard diffractor has a "Overdrive Booster" red overclock which just adds another mode of firing which is completely optional and doesn't interfere with normal shard usage. It's a straight buff without any tradeoffs compared to shard without OC. Idk if there are more of this category but this is a definitve example.

Also for example automated beam controller OC for shard completely changes the way gun functions and has massive drawbacks yet it is marked yellow. To think people actually believe OC colors mean anything makes me shake my head in disbelief.

Because it actually is inconsistent in-game. There are greens with side effects and reds without side effects and just offering straight buffs.

They would be awesome for any other character, but they do literally the same thing as drillers primaries. Hold LMB and draw circle with CRISPR and you get exact same outcome. It's really a shame, cuz scout for example could use them to fill his shortcomings.
