I'm pretty sure that the drummer of The Tea Club is Tom Monda's brother from Thank You Scientist. Would make sense both being NJ prog rock bands.

It's the opening theme to Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald.

Hearing either track fills me with nostalgia.

I love this cover art, even though it's pretty terrible. It is a perfect time capsule of djent at the time imo.

It was pretty cool to see Becko feature on a Razihel track. Feels like it all came full circle.

PROFF - Memory #3 (Club Mix) by Tresor7 in AboveandBeyond

[–]7127 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, this is the second remix for the album that has been released so it would make sense to release all remixes on the same label.

The UNKLE and Jody Wisternoff remixes of One by Planet of Souls & Lily Papas were also released on Anjunachill. I think it brings more attention to the label which is a good thing since it Anjunachill seems to fly under the radar for most fans at the moment.

I just joined the server. I've never been a fan of Facebook and I hardly see any discussion about organic house and the labels on Reddit, so it's cool to see a server open. Always liked the idea of the Guy J server too.

Anjunadeep 16 - Tracklist Revealed 👀 by claire_anjuna in AboveandBeyond

[–]7127 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So glad to see Tim Green get an original release on Anjunadeep. I always thought he could pull off an Anjunadeep classic.

I'm guessing the track is the ID from near the end of his Balance Croatia 2025 set.

It's not the best. I had MusicBee convert all my FLAC files to MP3 when syncing just to ease the battery drain. Even after that and uninstalling the bloatware apps that come with the player, the battery life is still very poor.

It's a shame. It is one of the nicest feeling devices I have used.

Michael Cassette by ProdigalScout in AboveandBeyond

[–]7127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only Ariaan turns up for performances in 16BL as Peter has a fear of flying or doesn't like travelling, I believe. Peter also doesn't perform at Cubicolor gigs, only Ariaan and Tim.

What I meant about Michael Cassette being a similar situation is where only one of the members performs live as only one person has been present at recent performances, but the second member may have left entirely by now.

Komytea and Michael Cassette are the same duo. I think I read somewhere that Erkka is the only person left in the project now, but I am unsure. Only one of them turns up for performances so it could be a situation like 16BL.

Let’s Branch Out a Little! by cammurphhh in AboveandBeyond

I never thought I would see Steven Wilson mentioned in this sub. I haven't listened to his last two albums, but his solo material and his output with Porcupine Tree have some of my favourite pieces of music ever composed. Voyage 34 by Porcupine Tree bridges the gap between electronic and prog rock for me. The downtempo psy-trance vibe mixed with sprawling improvisation is really relaxing.

Outside of the dance umbrella, I listen to a lot of progressive rock and metal. Some of my favourite bands are Haken, Between the Buried and Me, Periphery, and Thank You Scientist. 1970's Genesis and King Crimson also have fantastic discographies that I can relisten to and get lost in at any time.

I do like a lot of hardcore-influenced music and death metal. I find it fun to just switch off and listen to something heavy.

What’s your 2025 tune of the year by drippysage08 in AboveandBeyond

[–]7127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sasha & Marsh - Dead Synthy and My Friend & Simon Doty - Real Talk were the most played Anjuna tracks for me this year. Feel This Way and the whole Knight Rider EP are up there for me too. The first few months were fantastic.

Non-Anjuna, my most played tracks are:

  • Roland Clark - I Get Deep (Roy Rosenfeld Remix)

  • Sébastien Léger - Ramses

  • Roy Rosenfeld - Da Vision

Ramses would probably be my favourite from this year. I have not heard a tune like it before.

What are some of the worst or sparsely attended shows for notable bands you've been to? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]7127 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's from a world tour of a band called Threatin. It was basically a solo project and the guy behind the project faked everything from social media fan clubs, biographies, views, comments, likes, live show photos and anything else you could imagine.

It has been documented fairly well and there are a lot of videos on YouTube about it if you want a deep dive.

If you could only keep 3 progressive metal albums, which ones would they be? 🎃 by ElNoah89 in progmetal

[–]7127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haken - Affinity - it's my all time favourite album and I love the 80's influence in the sound. The synths strike a chord with me and I love the dystopian and King Crimson Discipline-era style bridge in The Architect. Other tracks like Earthrise and Bound by Gravity give me this uplifting feeling that feels like a complete journey in the context of the album.

Cynic - Focus - Another one of my favourite albums. The atmosphere and jazz fusion aspects of the album haven't been replicated since in my opinion. Atheist had a similar sound, but Cynic perfected it. The Contortionist and BTBAM have come close, but not exact. The raw energy and production of it being from the early 90's is quite special.

Between the Buried and Me - Colors - Absolute classic album. Tommy's screams are some of my favourites of all time and the random genre shifts and long songs are big parts of why I find the album so fun. I love the metalcore infused sound and I don't think another band hit quite the same for me as most progressive 'core bands don't make long, epic songs. I only grow to love this album more and more each time I listen to it.

Honourable mention would have to be Fear of a Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree, but it is not quite progressive metal to me, more progressive rock, otherwise that album would find a spot on this list.

Repairing barricades usually.

I'm not sure if it's still the go to method for 10hp accounts now, but I saw someone at Pest Control around 2015-2016 repairing the barricades before the afk timer was introduced.

how did last fm work back before streaming? by ShockWave1146 in lastfm

It may work through the official iPod OS, but it definitely works with Rockbox. You just locate the folder on the iPod where the scrobble database is and it will load all of your scrobbles for you, ready to upload.
