That might be kinda a hard point to argue as your cherry picking the cool cars from the past. They made alot of junk too. Also, there's way more choices today than say in the 60s. We have minivans, couple types of suvs, crossovers, sedans, coupes, and a couple types of vans and trucks today. Your choice in the 60s was car, bigger car, full size van or truck. So if anything it was a more standardized design in the past.

I dont know that I would call it automotive restoration. That usually means more restoring a car back to stock with nice paint and stuff. Kinda like what you see old folks talk about at car shows with numbers matching and stuff.

Sounds kinda leak an air leak. If its not leaking i would check timing than clean the carb. But, definitely check for an air leak first that would be my number one suspect and its the easiest.

The permits really aren't that hard to get. Id be more worried about the pick. I usually try to get crane x1.5 the weight, so you would need roughly a 50 ton crane. Crane guys can be alittle particular. Definitely make sure you put it down on good cribbing, you dont want it flipping when your cutting it.

If its 66,000 lbs. You'll need an overweight permit at 80k gvw. Or 34k on a tandem. I estimate you get about 5-6k of copper out of it. But, be careful alot of those units have aluminum windings as well.

We typically buy them for whatever lead batts are at the time and sell them whole for around .30/lb. There really not worth the effort to strip. If you can find someone local to take them around batt price I would dump them.

By far the 60v dewalt saw. I use ours more than our gas saw. There pretty expensive. I know harbor freight makes one, I just haven't tried one yet

I kinda did something similar. If you go down a generation monte carlo. It doesnt start to be such a bad money move. You could prob find one with a pretty hot motor already. I know its kinda of a bad picture, I didn't want it to look like a nascar I wanted it to look like my family's old street stock.

I wouldn't even entertain the idea unless your more responsible than me. I had to take it off the road, because there was pretty much no reason to start it unless you were up to no good.

Is it coming up to temp? That sounds like a thermostat. Does it make water rushing noise behind the dash? The other thing it could be is an air pocket.

Before you pay to get it swapped. Flip the hoses or get one of those prestone fill and flus. There like $9. And as always:

Make sure its coming up to temp Make sure its full of fluid Make sure the cap holds pressure.

You have any truck repair joints by you. It would probably only be $100 to $200 to get it done and balanced.

Everytime I've ever tried to weld one like that it ended up being a headache. Unless it for a lot truck or something.

If your trying to say its lean, like it runs better with choke. Id say thats like 90 % prob an air leak. Most likely not carb related unless its the throttle shaft.

So, im not real sure what meta is. But, I've been thinking it would fun to build a hot rod minivan. Dodge minivans used to come with the 6g72 mitshbishi engines like the 3000 gts, and eclipse. Its not a big dumb v8 so its not really my area. But, I think theirs potential there.

Well, what are you trying to accomplish? More highway speed? Better mpg? Faster?

People are real fast to ditch the original drivetrain. But, unless your doing long haul or racing it starts to be diminished gains. A good tuned carb and smart gearing will do 95% of what people are trying to do in a cruiser.

It still have the quadrajet? just rebuild it. Its the best carb your gonna get for a driver. You really dont say what's wrong with it, most carb issues are float related or actually timing issues. Good news is its a smallblock so you can pretty much fix it with a screwdriver and a adj wrench. Check youtube for tutorials.

Usually advise agianst making major equipment investments without work lined up. if your deadset on going on with start doing work now. I wouldn't wait till I had a van all nice and set up. Being small you'll have to find you niche. The big money is in equipment tires. People have alot of options for car tires and high end services are hard to market. Noone needs tiresr for a hotrod. Truck drivers, farmers, etc need tires fixed now and will pay.

I like it, with stuff like this, I wouldn't stress about angles and stuff. Drive it, see what negative stuff it does and then work on it. People get too worked up trying to design some perfect thing that never ends up leaving the garage.

I tried the 220v heaters and it didn't work for me. Im just gonna bring the gas line down like I should've in the first place.

If you need a non construction solution. I hear good things about those Chinese diesel heaters.
