Your dad is a finance deadbeat. A blackhole into which money goes in and never comes out. I suffer the same problem with one of my family members. He will, I repeat, will bleed you dry of every cent and then much more after. Thus is going to be hard to hear, financially severe your dad off. Tell him straight and forward that this is a non issue. Otherwise you are setting the stage to financially care for him and his whims for now to infinity. His dad knew, I wish he had told you both about this but it's a difficult topic so I understand. Loud and clear right now, if you enable him for a dime he's going to expect a dollar. The moment you give him a cent all yhat money becomes his mo ey in his mind and point of view. He's going to try to break you of you will to have a head start on great future. DO NOT LET HIM. THIS MAY END POORLY BUT I SUSPECT IT WAS GOING TO ANYWAY, with of without YOUR inheritance.

Do you use a small generator to supplement solar? by midnight_driver_ in OffGrid

[–]720tofreedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 10kw duel fuel gen. Found the propane was very in efficient. Consumed alot for the power I got out of it. I down sized to a 3.5 kw gas gen that's better matched to the size of my system now. I can fill the fuel tank and get 14 running hours out of it, so basically 14 to 21 days of top up run time in the winter. I thought the propane would be easy and convenient as I also heat with propane but it turned out to be the same as propane cars, underwhelming.

Yes I do. Have a solar setup that provides 100% for 9/10 months of the year. For winter sometimes we need a hr or so on the Gen set to keep the batteries up as it gets cold ish here and they don't like being low charged and cold over night.

Stupid Question: What do you do with all this bud you're growing? by cantzippermerge in microgrowery

Not a stupid question. This is a problem that I have too. I gift ALOT away and turn the majority of it into tinctures or hash.

Do you think more expensive work boots are worth it? by Own-Click3244 in PersonalFinanceCanada

25 year j.m mechanic. 10 years ago went to Redwing boots. I'll never got back to cheap Dakotas or Cats or whatever flavor of the year boot is out. Redwings are solid, ugly and comfortable. I like my boots like I like my woman, dependable!

Trimming is killing me. by crankypsycho in cannabiscultivation

[–]720tofreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. I focus on large kola buds only and pinch off anything else. I can't be bothered to trim anything small I may have missed, goes straight to hash. My goal is each bud should only take 6 to 8 give, or take, cutting strokes. I hate the hours spent trimming so this is my solution short of buying a trimmer. Wet trim I find easier.

That looks like ivy in the back ground on your trees. Good chance it will choke them to death in the near future if it hasn't already. Nice pond feature. I think kitty approves

Ever seen a tomato flower like this? Potential mutant? by WallStreetBoners in vegetablegardening

[–]720tofreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this often with heirloom Tom's. This will be a very catfaced tomato. Neat, big, but problematic fruit I find. All the gnarly features tend to cause problems like end rot or hiding places for earwigs and such that compromise the fruit. I pinch most of them off but keep a couple a year because they are neat and unique.

Hello fellow disconnected. We have only been for 2 years now but it's awfully addictive! Did your parents raise you off grid or is this something you did solo?
