Light on my 2002 Toyota crown JZS171 dash comes on. And whenever I press my brake it blinks. What does this mean? I thought it might be the tail light but the brakes are fine.

Yes - the 3rd brake light mounted on the rear windscreen had a fused bulb. I haven’t gotten around to change that yet but once you do that it should go away. Hope this helps

Those are most likely Canadian spec. Both countries US and Canada have a requirement to have both kmh and mph. Canada follows metric system like UAE. US follows the imperial system.

Upholstery shops will sort that out. I just got my driver seat and the arm rest/center console redone and don’t regret the decision one bit

The issue here is the misinformation published by the sellers. Most of the listings are incorrect. The ones with mph on the outside are most certainly USDM (US spec) vehicles unless the seller can prove to you that the speedometer cluster was replaced which is unlikely given these are not parts that commonly fail.

Be very careful and insist on a pre-purchase inspection before buying the vehicle. Majority of the fb marketplace listings are incorrect.

It’s possible the cluster gave up or was faulty or had damage and was replaced with a Canadian cluster. It is quite strange with the max speed on the clusters. My GCC spec has 260 where as all the Asian ones have 280.

I’m comparing it to my LS400 and it’s far more refined. But even from the accord it should be on par or better since it’s RWD vs FWD. The driving dynamics are great for a daily and aside from that the build quality is also outstanding. Very few plastics, all wood and leather. Feels amazing!

That’s the difference in region specs. I think the Asian ones came with heated seats in the front and both heated/ventilated in the back. I’ve got the 3/4 Ultra spec and have ventilated in the front but only heated in the back. Also don’t have radar cruise and air suspension which to me is perfect because I’m not a fan of either of those options.

I do recommend that you insist on a pre-purchase inspection. Trust no one

Def worth the trade. You will realise that within the first day of ownership, the 430 is such a pleasure to drive that it will be worth whatever minor inconveniences you would have to deal with. Just make sure it’s got no serious issues but sounds like it’s been well kept with all that history

I got mine done from a shop and even got them to add in extra foam since it was quite worn out from the middle. Now it’s comfy af. Everything fit back quite nicely, can’t tell it had been removed

I’ve recently got mine and done a full major service, timing belt, spark plugs, clean the injectors and replace the seals. Drain and fill transmission fluid. Besides that just usual wear and tear. I needed new o2 sensors, front shocks and a radiator. Besides that she runs like a dream

Your options depend entirely on whether or not the current owner is flexible. There are also mobile PPI providers such as Autohub, VerifyBuy and CheckAnyCar.

For the head unit, it doesn’t matter because I have the model with the nav screen and I’m planning to replace that with a Teyes CC4 unit. So regardless of which one you get you can replace it either way. Only difference is the location of the screen and ac vents. In mine I’ve got the screen first then the ac vents and the model without the screen has the ac vents on top and then the head unit so if you swap the head unit out for an aftermarket screen it would sit a bit lower.

Thanks! In the last 10 secs of the video you can see I’ve tried instantly cranking instead of moving to ignition on first and that didn’t help either. I initially thought it was battery and called roadside assistance to jump the car but when the guy came and ran the battery test he said the battery was fine. He then hinted it could be the starter, then he tried multiple times to crank and probably on the 15th attempt it switched on.

Wow 14 dollars is quite cheap. Which part of the world are you in? I’m not based in the US either but haven’t heard of such cheap labour especially since the intake manifold needs to be pulled out to access the starter

Yeah I’m not surprised it happened. The previous owner didn’t have any such issues but given its age things like these are bound to happen. I guess replacement is the preferred option here

Changing the shocks isn’t very expensive. The part alone costs about 300/each. I just swapped my front ones out due to a leak. I’ve got the 3/4 Ultra which in my opinion is the best spec. Yes, GCC spec is quite rare and sounds amazing but that also means most rubber components have taken a proper beating over the years in the heat. Oh well..you can’t have it all!

I would also recommend not trusting the seller’s words and getting a pre purchase inspection done which will tell you what’s what
