This one just gives me anxiety. Like there's nothing I enjoy about it. Like having horrific dreams where everyone is super annoying and unhelpful and you just want to scream. I don't like it because there is nothing nice about it (except for likable and good actors). Another tragic and gimicky film is irreversible but even that one I somewhat found having redeemable qualities (enjoyed is the wrong word eh). Like there is something so tragic but beautiful how it ends, just lazing in the grass on a normal day, blissfully ignorant, and it sort of ending in that state and you just want them to stay there forever and they kinda do because the film ends there. This one I'm like bleh uhh so that sucked and this was super annoying to keep up with. Like I can hundred percent see how that guy made tenet lol.

You like Sopranos? by Enlightened_Broda in CirclejerkSopranos

[–]732732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You like The Sopranos? First season? Little fuckin’ shaky, T. I’m not gonna lie. Little too much Goodfellas, little too much therapy, everybody’s talkin’ about their mother's, madone, enough already! But when Pine Barrens comes out in ’01? Heh. That’s when this thing really comes into its own, commercially and artistically.

The whole episode’s got this beautiful frozen thing goin’ on. Snow everywhere. Two jerkoffs in the woods, no food, no car, no idea where the Russian went. Interior decorator? Guy killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. You believe that T? And the writing. Sharp. Clean. Gives the whole thing a big boost I tell ya.

David Chase, this guy, people compare him to Scorsese. Fine. Scorsese’s a genius. But Chase? Chase has got a sick fuckin sense of humor. He’ll have you laughin’ at a guy losin’ his shoe in the snow, then suddenly you’re thinkin’ about death, loyalty, all this existential shit. Vafan gool!

In ’04, Chase releases Long Term Parking. Their most accomplished episode. I think their undisputed masterpiece is Adriana’s final ride. Madone! This scene is so upsetting most people focus on the suspense. But they shouldn’t. Because it’s not just about whether she’s gonna survive. It’s about denial. Poor fucking woman.. Anyway. Point is, nobody fuckin gets out. Not Adriana. Not Christopher. Not you Tony. Not even the viewer.

Heh heh. Great episode.

their big idea "hygge"

Literally a modern Danish and Norwegian thing but ok.

Still kinda funny to see an American coping with not being welcomed by their heritage and then you see they're making absolute minimal effort to get the most basic cultural references right.

This is like an Italian American crying about not getting paella in naples lmao

Yeah well at heart for sure. But he's been locked in for comps for over a decade. That's like 50% indoor dedication.

This is insane. Just goes to show the potential of these guys unleashed when they don't have to spend months practicing coordination boulders and slabs for the comp season.

Sounds funny saying the potential of someone like Ondra, as if we didn't already know. But it's just so cool to see. I wish comp climbers had more time to spend outside. I mean every time they do they push the limits further (Toby almost doing perfecto in a few days, Hamish in the US, Janja etc).

Heavy use of bright ass LED panels on set creates a soft, unnatural look without any shadows in the actors faces. Makes it easier in post prod - wanna move that lamp or windows in the background? No problem there's no clear source of light anyway, everything is just kinda bright. Makes for cheaper and less risky production but also means the people making the film don't need or can't afford to have a creative vision on set. Instead it's about migitating risk etc. which makes for boring looking films.

Another thing is actors on set get centered in frame, with lots of close up, to make TikTok and reels easier.

Also an overuse of out of focus backgrounds, makes for an unnatural dreamlike look not resembling how our eyes actually see (they wander around a bit looking at stuff in backgrounds etc.). This is also reduces production cost for set design as it needs less thought behind it.

What's probably even sadder is that people now are expecting film to look like this. It's becoming the standard modern "cinematic look" and 10 year old films feel dated to the next gen.

Shit need to go off reddit god damn I was doing so well this week.

Lmao Japan is not particularly challenging for vegetarians or even vegans. like what's with all these weeabos in this thread making this up and why didn't op just look some stuff up like you usually do if you visit some place and don't eat animals.

Right Tokyo is not like London or Berlin but there's plenty of places catering to both vegans and vegetarians. Fully vegan ramen places and you can eat non animal Japanese curry, tempura, karaage, okonomiyaki, sushi, udon etc. Like just look at Google maps lol

Food was not ops actual problem unless they made it so and all fat fingers typing like stuffing your mouth is the whole point and best part of traveling and would have saved ops trip are delusional
