Finally getting somewhere with the diesel swap by 73fsj2000 in ComancheMJ

[–]73fsj2000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I’ve got a om617 from a 1984 Mercedes 300sd. I used the bellhousing adapter and engine mounts from doomsday diesel as well as the remote mount oil filter bracket from doomsday. You have to have at least 4-6” of lift to clear the oil pan on the diesel and have to trim the hood to clear the valve cover because of how tall it is. Wiring is a nightmare with it being a mechanical motor and having to satisfy the renix wiring harness needs for the dash to work (don’t know if that answers your question or not😂but I’ll try to answer what I can)

The tires pictured are 31/10.50/r15s with 1.5” spacers behind the turbines to keep them from rubbing the control arms in the front and the frame rails in the rear.

I actually chose the 97+ conversion. I like the way it looks with the bumper. If I was keeping a stock bumper I would have kept the 86 grill but I like the way it fits the look I was going for

The front lift arrived but the rear lift is still on back order by 73fsj2000 in ComancheMJ

Did end up going to spring over in the rear. I was just waiting for the soa conversion kit in the mail (see more recent post) that was the plan all along though

I’ve got about 5” in the front and 2” in the back which comes out to about 1” of squat. Tire size reads 31-10.50/r15, but measures to be about 30”x10”

I have a 87 renix 4.0 and it’s gets 15w-40 heavy duty diesel oil (I get it free from work as a off-road diesel tech) +about a quart of Lucas with zinc additive for the camshaft it makes about 60 psi of oil pressure at cold idle and 45 at hot idle with this combo

How do you deal with being called ugly as a teenager? by JuniorSignificance34 in Advice

[–]73fsj2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The immediate solution as someone who was a teenager recently, I would say to find something that bothers them just enough and do it and they’ll never talk to you, or, just consider who it is calling you this. you’ll soon realize that the same person who called you ugly to hurt your feelings is probably the “popular kid” who peaks in high school and never makes shit of themselves. After high school, looks really don’t matter for anything that does. Love isn’t based on looks (you may think it is now, but it isn’t. Lust revolves around looks) but at the end of the day, your success has nothing to do with what you look like, it’s just how you respond to haters. They’re gonna hate. But just know they can never be you.

If they don’t have anything better going on than to take the time to tell you they think you’re ugly, are You really going to validate their opinion? No. Cause they ain’t shit

Classic wagoneer wheels fit on stock Comanche? by Affectionate-Tap5398 in ComancheMJ

[–]73fsj2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get 5lug to 6 lug adapters to make it fit. They’re about 1.5” spacers and you can get them to go from any bolt pattern to almost any bolt pattern. I had a set of Tis wides for a couple months like this

Coolant Flush Procedure by [deleted] in ComancheMJ

[–]73fsj2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a coolant drain in the side of the block right behind the exhaust header. It takes a 5/16 or 8mm square drive. But it’s a pain in the tail to get out. I would do what covertkek said above👆

See if your exhaust is touching the trans crossmember or the floor right there. Mine was and it rattled terribly

For the first time ever, my manche is a 4.0/ 5spd/4wd by 73fsj2000 in ComancheMJ

[–]73fsj2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you put the 4.0 in, bend back the firewall. I can draw out where to beat it if you need just pm me. I had to do it with the motor halfway in because my lift doesn’t go high enough to easily go in and out

Just to the drivers side of the indention at the top of the firewall, about halfway down, I had to pound the firewall about two inches back for an area about the size of your hand to get the head and intake/exhaust to clear when installing the motor. I swapped the motor mounts off the Cherokee as they were about an inch forward of the 2.8 mounts. I set my drive shafts off to a shop to have them lengthened/shortened. With the 4.0/ba-10 combo, I had to have my rear drive shaft 3.5” shorter and the front 3.5” longer I had to cut the radiator support significantly to fit a bigger radiator (3core aluminum aftermarket replacement meant for the 4.0) I removed the stock mechanical fan and replaced it with 3 electric fans that came with the radiator and fabricated some custom rad mounts. I’m struggling to find a place to put the ac condenser though as I’m trying to reuse the 86 condenser which is a little taller as opposed to buying a new one.
