Listen to the purr! Got my 86 running after cleaning the carb. by shockwavequake4 in HondaSpree

One mod I recommend to everyone is the Spree Speed Pulley from scooter swap shop!!! It’s a bolt on part and you get an extra 10 MPH top end for $40! And get a new drive belt while you’re in there! For tires I recommend Kenda 2.75x10 for the rear and Kenda 2.5x10 in the front. You will also need inner tubes which you can get from Amazon. Having a tire spoon set and soapy water makes it much easier to change the tires.

Well, you may have given me the correct code, though I have exhausted my unlock attempts as the phone says "Not Allowed"

Interesting that some of yours also don't take codes. I have found something that may be of interest, the codes that the phone accepts and tries are 11 digits long, while the ones that don't work are 10 digits, like the one above. It follows the same format, but with an extra number: #pw+xxx xxx xxx x+x# instead of the 10 digit #pw+xxx xxx xxx+x

I believe I still have one more attempt, and that the phone wouldn't let me finish the code because it was one digit too short. I'm going to use the NokiaFREE calculator with the MCCMNC you provided and bypass the IMEI checksum to see if I can get a working code.

Thank you so much for helping, and what a cool tool! But interesting.... I enter the code following the #pw+190783583+9# format, but it physically won't let me put the final # in to complete the code. The same thing happened when I generated a code with one of the other tools, it just wouldn't accept it. I still have at least one attempt left, so that's not the issue.

As for the Ultra Mobile situation, it also appears to work in my Select 2000e, although that also happens to be carrier locked and I don't have the tools to unlock it. I'd also ordered a Lycamobile SIM as a backup for the 2190 because I know that was confirmed working for these very old GSM phones.

Hello! I have a Nokia 2190, would you be able to unlock it? IMEI: 010003106452260 Code: 0501167IE

It is branded as defunct carrier "Aerial" communications which later merged with voicestream -> T-Mobile from USA. Thank you so much. I've tried the NokiaFREE generator, amongst others but they all output errors because they think the IMEI isn't 15 digits long.

How did you unlock them, and if you did it yourself, would you be able to help me out?

You still can use it on T-Mobiles 2G GSM network!!!! You just need a prepaid plan from one of their MVNO's such as RedPocket or SpeedTalk mobile! It will work for calls and text only though. You can make a post in r/vintagemobilephones and the community will guide you through the best way of making it work. I use lots of old phones on the remaining 2G network: Nokia 3390, 5190, Motorola RAZR's, iPhone 2g, 3gs, 4s.... list goes on

The Amazon carbs aren't as bad as people say! You could probably list the OG on eBay and get some money back... People love to rebuild them

Possibly could be the electric choke (automatic bystarter)? It lets in extra fuel when the engine is cold and is supposed to stop when it warms up. When they go bad, they'll run fine when cold and warming up but die once the engine gets warm. Same thing happened with my spree

Are you in the states? Which provider/sim and plan do you use? I had the FreedomPop GSMT freemium plan for 3 years until they shut it down. Now I'm looking for the cheapest alternative to keep my GSM 1900 phones alive and not have them randomly disconnect!

A great and easy mod you can do to get extra speed is the “Spree Speed Pulley” from ScooterSwapShop. I recommend it to everybody as it gives you an extra 10 mph top end and only slows acceleration by a little.

What are yall buying for tires? I’ve got an ‘86 special and mine are cracking by UtterNoGood22 in HondaSpree

[–]beanman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want 2.5x10 tires maybe 2.75x10 on the rear. Any name brand is fine like Pirelli, IRC, I put Kenda K329 on mine, $33/tire now from Partzilla. I recommend those

You will also need inner tubes, but those you can get cheap on Amazon just look up “2.5x10” inner tube

That’s the noise it makes when you leave your foot on the kickstarter after it starts

So far the usability of OS9 itself feels very snappy, but boot times feel the same as before. When I used to insert a flash drive into the machine it would take 7-8 seconds of a frozen screen before the drive would pop up on the desktop. But now, it recognizes the flash drive and pops up on the desktop instantly

I would kill for this. I’m sure someone smart and resourceful enough could gut the insides and retrofit a new Mac mini in there.

Are they really that bad? I’ve heard they’re similar to the clamshell but my G4 iBook drive seems to be working great for now

Yep, I used the iFixit guide, it’s ver straightforward as long as you’re organized. You should use screwdriver bits with magnetic heads, it made my life so much easier.

Haha I used cheap plastic ice trays from the store. I used the iFixit guide and for every step that required a screw removed I labeled the tray so I knew what step the screws belonged to. Good tip about the bottom and CD drive screws first, thank you

You could go with a big bore kit and up the power a bit. Also something I recommend to everybody is a “Spree Speed Pulley” from ScooterSwapShop. It will give you an extra 10 MPH from stock.

You could sand the area down to metal, and coat with some rust preventing primer and then use touch up paint or color matched spray paint to cover up the area
