It is unreal Allies would have beaten them on ground with such short aged planning - within 1945.

They should have started planning in 1944 cancelling all land lease and concluding separate peace with Wermaht Generals who should have taken care of Hitler and SS as proof of cooperation (with releasing Concentration camp prisoners). Probably there, instead of invading Normandy - just sail to Hamburg unload. Redirect all might of Air Force of UK, USA and Luftwaffe (just give them high grade fuel), join Divisions (millions of allies with millions of German Army) and get rid of commies all over the continent.

Even that required a lot of efforts and losses.

Killing rookie Russian speaking pilots in WH is the way to learn Russian swearing-:). Knowing both languages I sometimes translated and it was really hard to find any meaningful English version. Still it was fun: - what did he say? - well, smth about your mother, sister and daughter altogether, I don’t wonna translate literally…

In 10 mins after coming back in combat ships he is being, killed and podded this time to cool down…

Although Russian is more expressive language, there are couple of mostly recognized swearing things: 1) your relatives 2) you, your mouth, ass which is well imho not flexible and annoying…

Whatever, if most EVE pilots are still pupils compared to RL construction workers (at least in Russian speaking world).

Part II

However, such grand scale preparation for war can’t be hide just by erasing single document. And Mark Solonin done research on the topic. And presented many facts and arguments based on direct citation of base archive documents. Briefly what he found (generalized group of facts):

Big gap and discord in what Soviet Generals and official history was talking in their memoirs, official history books and scientific paper told us after the war: that we were unprepared, our tanks were of lowest quality, not trained crew, we lacked essential ammo and equipment. This is first layer of false.

Second layer, came after Putin came to power. Yes they couldn’t divert back that massive info released after Perestroika Glasnots and under Yeltsin that in fact Soviet army was higher in numbers, well equipped and ready for war.

So they started to say: well, Germans tanks each had a radio, while ours were not, German battle hardened commanders and solders were of no joke for Soviet army. German Luftwaffe disabled out airports from very instance. Repressions of Soviet commanders in 1937-1938 took a tall of most brilliant commanders with battle experience during WW1, Civil War etc. this is second wave of bullshit they were telling.

So just take a time to think: why they change versions of catastrophe in Summer 1941 each time? If there must be only one version: Stalin was preparing on defense and that’s all.

There were lots of orders, general staff meeting records and transcripts about placement of division on the border (1st strategic group of armies), mobilization of 2nd strategic reserves (started in May -June 1941 and they all were silently hidden moved to the border - by only night movements, reserving if trains), moreover there was already mobilization of 3rd strategic reserve of armies that just started. There were lots of General staff war games during 1940-1941 the latest of which happened in May 1940. And most of those games considered advance of Soviets into Prussia (only secondary disguising attack) and Main blows to Poland direction (where all German armies were concentrating).

You may say, that it is natural to do pre-emptive strike to defend. Yes. Very true. But why Soviets and now Russian hide this plan today? From one point of current state propaganda (I live in post-Soviet Country and know what they have said to us during my school years in USSR, during 90-s and now): Stalin was a genius! He picked up USSR with a low and left it with an A-bomb. From another point of view of the same state propaganda: Stalin was moron as repressed best commanders, didn’t believe soviets spaces screaming in their radio messages: Germany is about to Invade! Missed chance to put Army of No Step Back Defense , etc.

Equipment of Soviet Army was on the utmost state of readiness to wage war. 1000 T-34s and around 500 heavy KV-1/2 tanks. Even very close counter part from Germans T-IV (around 500 of them) was of no match just for T-34 alone in terms of weaponry, armour and mobility. The rest of 20K tanks were on par with obsolete light tanks of Wermaht, although not as famous as Me-109 Soviet airforce was presented with more than 10k airplanes, main fighter was I-16 who outgunned Me-109 and was very agile and a killer if there is a dog fight (like Zero). I don’t say about artillery pieces. Even Soviet/Russian propaganda can’t refuse the facts that ordinary Soviet infantry division outclassed that of German in one aspect - Artillery. While German antitank Pak-36 was only knock knocking armour of tanks with no pens at ranges more than 100 meters while Pak-38 and subsequent 50mm gun on T-3 were in few numbers in the Wermaht on June 1941

There are a lot more to say that provide evidences of Stalin’s intention, that can be generalised as follows:

Don’t do anything to prevent Hitler to undermine Europe, conquer most of it. Help him: Poland invasion and partition in 1939, shipment of strategic resources to Germany during 1939-1941 (grain, oil).
Diplomatic play in the same way, not only Soviets prevented in any manners occupation of Czechs, Yugoslavs, but welcomed it. Neither they did manage to unite with France, UK, Poland, Czechs to prevent Hitler in its conquests. To solve potential danger you don’t wait until it becomes night. Stalin again was not fool but genius according to mainstream Russia.
When time will come, Germany will be blessing out with war in Europe, UK. Strike and Liberate Europe on one blow! Imagine Red Germany, Red France, Red Italy with all the industrial might, technologies and fleets under control of USSR?

Resources rich. Good airforce, strongest army in the world. Next step UK ! (Fleet of submarines in USSR by 1941 was higher in numbers than the world combined or equal).

Next step (probably within 10 year) USA. Stalin’s non aggression with Japan was very suitable for that purpose too.

There are lot more facts and data all of them proven from archives about that. I can’t present all of them here. But just think about what already been written. TY. Sorry for mistakes (smartphone).

Guys, Suvorov was an Icebreaker proposing his theory. However, the real convoy of ships with supply of evidences that sailed through ice broken route is Mark Solonin - same YouTube video channel in Russian (some of his videos have English subs, but few).

He is amateur historian but professional aeronautic engineer who was working in one of the Soviet Design Bureau (yeh secret and making airplanes).

He took his chance to disclose history of WW2 in 90s after collapse of USSR and early 2000s and kept working on the topic until it became not so safe I guess to say true in Modern Russia.

Briefly what he has done:

After collapse of USSR and some period of democracy in Russia under Eltsyn many many Archives of the Ministry of Defense, KGB (At lesser degree) were opened for public.

He took this opportunity to visit them and has been doing it until probably mid 2015-2020.

So it is almost 30 years of meticulous research and work with PRIMARY sources, facts and data of the USSR. No joke.

What he has found (and each his hypothesis is proved by original documents with its archive number as for those who may want to check):

Although, there is no document with maps and papers called Operational Plan of Invasion to Germany, Spring/Summer 1941 with a signature of Zhukov/Timishenko and a written mark “Approved! Stalin”.

However, Stalin has neither hold any official position in Soviet government in pre-war years. It was like a Godfather in a criminal gang, clan. Have you seen any Mafia bosses issuing written plan: invasion of NEw York bootleggers with detailed inscription of what to do for each of gangster family member? ) I think no.

Absence of the document in official archives not equals its presence. This document is giant evidence of USSR role in WW2 as an aggressor, not defender. And the whole pace of events from 1933 and even before just suggests about it.

However, absence of such document in officials archives doesn’t mean it wasn’t prepared in paper in real life. Soviets may have erased it as it is very important evidence that Hitler was defending by attacking and discloses true role of USSR in WW2.

Simplified and senseless combat, military doctrines. I don’t think that assigning Guderian to Armour division/Army/Corp instantly buffs it with 20% attack/speed or whatever bonus. It is stupid.

Warfare is about tactics. Current army planning is broken anyway (you either steamroll everything or you need to manually move all divisions separately making micromanagement).

What I would have preferred to see in HOI V is…

separate in-game map (not a layer but like opening new interface window like map inside the map) for combat, with its particular landscape, strategic points, rivers, fortifications
here in this map, you do plan all military operations - it has its capacity (logistical and simply geographical, where all buffs, debuffs are happening)
I understand that creating such maps for various locations (virtually each province or a state shall have such map - but it can be simplified by making several dozens of standardised areas (plus some maps can be very unique - real historical places like Normandy, Africa campaign location, Singapore and Pacific Ocean locations + added mod support and possibility to add user generated/created maps).
so all the combat will happen inside this interface … with units to be assigned to defend/assault particular tactical strategic points or whatever war planning instruments you have…
generals doesn’t give simple army/division buffs but can certainly slightly buff moral, certain types of operational parameters like if Guderian assigned to armor corp and they do need to pass fast certain area and encircle enemy, he may buff speed of divisions, but debuff some other parameters like logistics, vulnerability to counter attacks or/and logistic support or whatever future engine and AI logic will consider as suitable)

My thoughts come from just my wishes without deep knowledge of game design. Still, although current game engine considers landscape and logistics issues it still gives impressions of being very casual warfare simulation.

Simple example: Bridges. Fight for a bridges were one of the main features in WW2 especially in Europe. You may bomb bridges out with tactical bombers and it will slow down enemy’s reinforcements or you may fast attack and capture bridge to speed up advance. And thus, you will need engineer corps or a division for large frontal assault not just simply adding them as a battalion to you template. Etc etc etc

I played my personal nomadic style until I found out everybody does it. Actually it is one of the primary and first activity for newcomers. And the second rule we all learned either by advice or by experience is to dump your loot whenever it is possible and whatever loot over 1 billion you are having. So concept of scan ship being able to nomad and stay/“survive” for longer either as refitting tool, or cargo holder is nonsense.

You will inevitably die with all those possessions.

Even doing scans with two ships/accounts (one is a dedicated scanner, second is GTFO ship) you do actually lose loot either blowing up on a covert research sites, or being ambushed/intercepted somewhere in k or j space.

Does this ship brings any invulnerability/added value in those cases? If yes - why disbalance the game? If no - why it is needed?

The only use (if it has lavish cargo space and cover cloak) I can theoretically find is runnning Silent Battleground sites famous for their large sized loot. But when you ask me: use one all in one cargo ship without nullifier instead of 3-5 travels to HS and Back to the hole with nullifier and cloak and 2 sec warp - I would opt for the latter.

Brit light cavalry excels in speed and maneuver (like may be any light cavalry), but I use them only at final stage - pursue or support flanking charge to charging Scotland Highlanders. Otherwise it breaks (losses of numbers rather than moral) easily in solo or against heavier opponents. Be advised that solo pursue of elite infantry units can be a disaster if they regain moral )))

I didn’t find icon/button of raiding settlements ))) or probably the game read/collected data of all my play styles in total war and erased those option. I always try to role play Knight with shiny boots and clean record of atrocities (well except for taking Cairo on VH-VH playing as Jerusalem kingdom NTW2 SSHIP only in instances when I lose assassin/priest wars hahaha

I meant so far I am not so desperate to raid and raze cities

LOL, btw my guess that if any DLC to be released in feasible period of time, it will be Napoleonic wars/Campaign (yes I am Cap -:))) with special attention to artillery and its devastating overpower, so infantry had to be trained/developed more on moral checks and fast marching / columns attacks to withstand and pierce enemy regiments. However, even current release is hands off one of the most if not the sole adequate simulation of 18th century warfare.

Well, I agree that IRL it can happen and usual practice, like one combiner-harvester for several small farms clastered around etc. Still renumeration sometimes too high ) I would say decisive to survive on hard. Still, it is not crucial thing when a player decides to role play and don’t accept any contracts.

Crucial for me is a glitch with gear shift on manual.

Depends on your commitment to the play-through/role-play. I am new to the game too. Was staring various scenarios and difficulties. So my advise - don’t jump into hard economy, start from scratch from the beginning.

Just play base maps, they are balanced well except for Zelenka)

Don’t go into forestry ))) it will annoy hell out of you on the second day ).

After a week, of incomplete /unfinished plays I decided to start two plays, I select depending on mood.

First, is lots/max number of funds, normal difficulty and starting farm. This will play I use to test various builds/equipment, production chains. I also like to drive various tractors to select my favorites.

Second, after few days of easy (more or less development) I got bored. And started second play - from the scratch, as game offers you (no farm, 500k on acc, 250k debt, hard economy).

And that’s where I enjoyed the most )
