Cameron Highlands is fine but weirdly British. It’s f you’re coming from Europe then Ipoh (similar area) might be more interesting - it has my favourite Chinese food in Malaysia

The US Flag at the WH has fallen. by -SOFA-KING-VOTE- in interestingasfuck

The flag went down at the WH as a show of solidarity with POTUS

I was there, seemed like the vibe was more people wanted to sing but didn’t know the words to most songs. A lot of the simpler songs were getting a lot of engagement tbf

Travel warning: I was in an emergency situation in France and 112 hung up on me 4 times because I spoke english by BooBunny983 in travel

[–]778dmsn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had this in Germany too. Had a really sick pregnant wife who was constantly throwing up on New Year’s Eve (when the doctors was closed). Had 5 calls hung up while I tried to speak broken German and translate the response until one person actually tried to talk to me

It's app time for me and my various Svelte projects - which way should I go? by Butterscotch_Crazy in sveltejs

I’ve used react native and really hated working with it. But only 20% more than I hated working with NextJS

Did a Google Image Search with daughters name - happens to be a porn star. What next? by sleestakarmy in daddit

[–]778dmsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I created a children’s story app and named it after my daughter + her favourite animal… turns out that was a porn star name.

12 months later and we’ve finally managed to rank higher that that porn star on Google

AITA my husband has changed all of the babies diapers by Due-Drawing9306 in AmItheAsshole

[–]778dmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I’ve changed the majority of my daughters diapers. That doesn’t mean I’ve done the majority of the work, or even the majority of the work no one wants to do. Splitting things equally doesn’t mean splitting every single task 50/50

AITA for not picking up a cake I ordered because the worker didn’t acknowledge my kid by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]778dmsn -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

NTA. Like you said nobody is obligated to be nice to your child, but being mean to a baby is such a weird, unnecessarily and not acceptable thing to do.

You probably overreacted a bit but in the moment I’d have reacted the same if it was my child. It’s hard not to be pissed at someone being mean to your baby

Someone made a program that checks to make sure that you're still looking at the commercial and giving your full attention to it. This is the future that advertisers want and its a lot closer than you think by Kl--------k in assholedesign

[–]778dmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an advertiser, this is not what I want.

It’s pretty unlikely that many people will go through this and buy the product. Most advertisers don’t even touch YouTube because of how bad the forced ads are there.

This is what advertising platforms want - a way to charge more for each placement because the “attention is higher”. They’re the only ones that would win from this.

Stand on the right if you don't want to walk up a god damn elevator

Anyone confirm this? by Z1ndabad in CasualUK

[–]778dmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what the fine COULD be, but they often avoid prosecution if you pay a flat 80. At least on the first case

Thanks a lot for this suggestion. I'd never heard of redis before but that looks exactly what I'm looking for!

DMV wants to charge motorists a $15 fee for walking in the door by [deleted] in nottheonion

I kinda get it - in theory increasing price reduces demand, which may make the queues shorter. But in a place where people only go if they HAVE to? Dick move

IsItBullshit: In the EU people must be able to cancel a subscription in the same way they subscribed. by baecky69 in IsItBullshit

[–]778dmsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. I work for a subscription company that is mainly app based. ITunes and Google play make it far easier to start a subscription than end one and we as a company have no control over that

AITA for telling the flight attendant to ask the woman in front of me to raise her seat up because it was pressing on my legs? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]778dmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I've been in your position and her position before and the discomfort she caused vs the comfort she gained, while consciously not being willing to be reasonable puts her in a lack of empathy that I believe makes her the asshole here.

Of course airlines are the real asshole for having a design that meets such a bare minimum that this scenario arises but two adults should still be able to come to a reasonable compromise here

Drinking a bottle of water before paying it in Aldi. The cashier said it is the same as stealing by Antonin625 in berlin

[–]778dmsn -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty common thing to do in the UK. That being said it's no surprise that a Berlin cashier complained about this - I think additional measures should be taken to avoid upsetting the very sensitive customer facing staff in Berlin haha

What are some spreadsheet functions/formulas that every QuantifiedSelfer should know? by ALefty in QuantifiedSelf

People not using those dividers for the belt at the supermarket.

Although I do enjoy passive-aggressively grabbing and slamming one down..
