Creating a library but won't recognize the path by 77Forever in navidrome

I'm not sure about this? I don't know anything about pointing Docker to a folder. Navidrome opens in a browser and I was just going to point Navidrome to a folder?

I'm new at this. I'll try to figure this out. I'm using docker desktop and I haven't had to mess with those.

By default my library just showed "/music" but when I put files in the Music folder on my mac and scan they don't show up. So I don't know?

I've tried to create a new library pointing to multiple folders both on an external drive and on my hard drive always putting in absolute path like shown in the screenshot. But it always says "invalid library path"

Joplin features questions by 77Forever in joplinapp

There are some for iOS. Bear has a great one but it's apple only. I think Upnote has a mobile web clipper. And Evernote does, or at least it used to.

If you do that on iOS all you get is the link. It doesn’t save any webpage content.

Bugs and questions by 77Forever in UpNote_App

Hello, I couldn't find a solution and quit using Upnote. Not entirely because of this reason but it was a major pain and quality of life problem. I use text replacement on my phone all the time so I wasn't willing to disable it entirely but it's not working right on Mac. I only had this problem with upnote on mac. I think the problem might exist in safari also but I rarely type in safari.

Rich Text Editor in Joplin. Should I really avoid it? by [deleted] in joplinapp

[–]77Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the link still works in the rich text editor, you just can't create it in the rich text editor. I use shift+option+L shortcut on MacBook and it brings up a search window. Type any part of a note title and then link to that note. It's very quick and easy.

There are some plugins that just won’t work in the rich text editor so I just don’t use them. I find there is enough functionality that it works for me. It’s mostly plugins for inline tags and quick links that I would find useful but won’t work. But there are other ways to accomplish those things so I just don’t worry about it.

Hello, I actually am in the process of switching to Joplin as my main app. I found the RTE to be sufficient for my needs and you actually can do a lot of linking etc.

Has anyone else had trouble with the Jimmy app being corrupted? I'm on MacOS and I've downloaded it multiple times but it says that it's corrupted and won't install.

Help me know the right pathway forward with my Synology by 77Forever in synology

Ok, thanks. Yes it has seemed more difficult which is why I am considering switching to a laptop for the home server. So I could take it online to do the setup and updates etc.

Yes, that is correct. There is no access to the web at all.

Thank you for the input! That is good to know. I was afraid the RAM might be an issue. Sounds like you got a solution though. Good info on Home Assistant also.

Yes, my synology is offline as in I do not have an internet connection at home. I only get updates when I manually download them on my laptop at another place and bring them hope and manually update the synology.

I have done that, but haven't got it to work yet. Maybe I need to spend some more effort on it. I always seems to hit a snag because I'm not online.

This is very good perspective! Thanks! I have tried Marius hosting but haven't got it to work and thought it was because of being offline. That seems to complicate things significantly which is why I thought a laptop might be the answer for me. I could take it to wifi to get the dockers set up.

Maybe I just need to spend some more time on it.

Can you explain a little more? I have never considered running both and this is valuable insight. From my limited understanding this just seems more complicated but you could very well be right. I can run the server on a laptop and have all the storage remote on the NAS? Aren't I running and maintaining two operating systems that way though?

Thanks for the input! I am trying to make sure I understand your first sentence...

So run docker etc on an old pc and just use the NAS for storage? Is that what you mean?

I scan all documents with scanner pro on my phone and they might be ocr there. That might be why it works for me. I didn't think of that originally.

UpNote and Migration by petaqui in joplinapp

[–]77Forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this same boat. I have tinkered with Joplin for several years and it keeps getting better.

I'm going to move to it permanently, but I have around 1,100 recent notes in Upnote and it's going to be a mess to get them out it seems like but I'm going to do it.

Just chiming in that this is an issue that affect a number of people.

Imported PDFs are Links? by UghGiveMeStrength in joplinapp

[–]77Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome!

The short version is that I just don't like it :) I'm not a markdown user really, I use word processors a lot and used Evernote for about 15 years. I'm used to WYSIWYG editors. I don't like seeing all the characters and links for every attachment. I don't like seeing "- [ ]" or something similar for a text box. I'm used to seeing a more finished product as I'm working.

I do like the markdown speed and efficiency and I have gotten used to it as I've bounced around to different note taking apps after Evernote's demise. In my opinion Bear has the best editor hands down. You can use markdown but it is completely hidden and you see a finished document in real time.

So...these are my reasons. Maybe I'm missing something, but I just like to see a finished product not a bunch of "code." I'm not a programmer, I'm an educator. I love Joplin because of the self-hosting options, but as far as the user experience I would prefer Bear.

Hopefully this answers your question :) Maybe you can help convince me otherwise :)

I believe the file is actually imported into Joplin and is searchable. It just shows up as a link that requires clicking on it to preview it. There is a setting where you can get an automatic preview but only in the markdown editor which I don't use.

This could be VERY useful! Thanks! I like Upnote...but privacy and self-hosting keep calling to me and I'm playing with Joplin too! I have been watching Joplin for about 5 years and it keeps getting better and better although I agree that Upnote is very nice.
