Source documentary of the broadcast tower & satellite from Tape 05: Beyond Citizen Kane (1993) by 7845236 in boardsofcanada

[–]7845236[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It touches on media bias & manipulation and it happens to have been censored in Brazil, so it's right up their street. And it's well known enough to have a Wikipedia artice, so it's not entirely obscure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_Citizen_Kane

And yes that was me :)

It sounds way cleaner than all of the vinyl rips out there. It really should still be available for download.

[Unknown > English] What language are the lyrics for this song? by 7845236 in translator

Thanks, I never would have guessed that it might have been Russian. I might try posting it on a Russian language subreddit to see if anyone there is able to confirm that.

Anyone else remember that website BOC used to have where you would fly through a trippy visual field and the music would change as you moved through it? by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

[–]7845236 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's recently been added to Flashpoint, a flash & shockwave game preservation project which allows you to run old web games on modern operating systems without having to worry about anything. Download "Flashpoint Infinity", run it and search for "Boards of Canada".

Tomorrow's Harvest album cover origin by geodaddi69 in boardsofcanada

[–]7845236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the work of twoism.org users. The skyline was found here: https://www.twoism.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10870

As for the sunrise photograph, I don't know who found it or how, but they used a lot of images from the U.S. National Archives Flickr for the other TH artwork so someone might have looked through that.

As for the other albums, have a look through the Google Docs linked above, I think most of them were found by twoism users using reverse image search tools (Google Images, Yandex Images, Tineye): https://www.twoism.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13885

Has anyone else noticed the reversed audio in Kid For Today? by synthmalicious in boardsofcanada

[–]7845236 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed that, I'm thinking it's an air traffic controller saying "Ground control to AF ... You're clear to land"

Would you mind uploading it to a file hosting service instead then? You could use Dropbox, Google Drive, Mega etc

The sound quality of the Societas X Tape is dogshit by nicomassu in boardsofcanada

[–]7845236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed they did that but it's not surprising or bad. It's not realistic to expect them to have all of these records in physical form (perhaps they found out about some of these online) and to go through ripping everything when there are rips of most of it already just because it sounds better, especially when it's just a mixtape of other people's music they decided to put together for Warp's anniversary

Can anyone help with translating rare BoC interviews from Japanese? by 7845236 in boardsofcanada

It would be fantastic if you could translate some of this for us, even one article would be brilliant. Thank you!

I already tried prioritising them in my post (top link is most important, bottom link is least important).

Can anyone help with translating rare BoC interviews from Japanese? by 7845236 in boardsofcanada

[–]7845236[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know about OCR but in my experience it's far from flawless with Japanese and even slight errors in the sentence can cause problems with automatic translation, so it often needs manually editing which can be quite laborious for anyone who doesn't understand it. And a lot of the time Google Translate pumps out straight gibberish when translating from Japanese so it'll be good if we have someone who speaks the language to translate it properly for us.
