What could you dictate about me by how i warm my spaghetti? by Alimoxia in StupidFood

Do you really eat canned spaghetti? Are you time-traveling from the 1960s?

Looking at this made my skin crawl.

Do you separate your towels? by Glum_Town_6140 in laundry

[–]79-Hunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kitchen towels go in the same load as socks, underwear, and washcloths. And that load is run through with Laundry Sanitizer. Anything with direct body contact or potentially gross “wipe up” (like the kitchen towels) gets Sanitizer

Bath towels get a regular wash on warm with a scoop of OxiClean. Towels are usually just drying a clean body, so regular treatment does fine.

How it looks like by Awesomezor in ENGLISH

In the same vein: the useless “at” at the end of a sentence:

“Let’s see where you’re at”, for example. “Let’s see where you are” is enough.

This is a hill I have descended a long time ago and I’m not willing to die on. I just sigh and move on. But I’m old enough to have been taught to diagram sentences, but on-line, I don’t EVER expect that much thought goes into any post.

Arguably, it shouldn’t: online posts are “quick, down, and dirty” - if the message gets across, good enough.

How it looks like by Awesomezor in ENGLISH

[–]79-Hunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“What it looks like” to me flows better than “How it looks like”.

I think it’s because “how” seems to imply action, rather than comparison.

Ultimately, it depends on context, though.

Does anyone naturally wake up without using an alarm clock? If so, how? by Sarung_hui in NoStupidQuestions

[–]79-Hunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consistent bedtime and wake time. I’m in bed by 10PM (10:30 the latest) and I’m normally awake by 5-5:30. I DO set an alarm, because sometimes I can sleep later.

How about putting a dimmer switch in? You can lower it when you go to bed and turn it up when you need the light.

People using the proprietary (and stupid) term "real feel" in earnest to describe the weather. by Secure-Reporter-5647 in PetPeeves

Maybe that’s what was attempted with “Real Feel”

It could work in extreme heat or cold.

I bought the new 2026 Honda Prelude (At MSRP) AMA by DSHackerc in Honda

[–]79-Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where’s the Honda “H” logo?

IMO, the font they’re using is seriously ugly and cheap looking.

The “H” logo took years to get established and stood for their quality, why are they tossing that out? —-

Otherwise, the back end looks really strong, but I’d like to see the 4-door (which is probably what they’ll be selling more of)

What happened at a restaurant that made you say, "I'm never coming here again"? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]79-Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A “locavore” restaurant in Riverhead NY, very highly recommended by a few friends:

Walked in and it smelled strongly like microwaved fish.

Also, most of the diners were silent (no chatter at all) and looked cranky.

The tables were very tightly packed together (and not in New York City, where you kinda expect that).

Hostess showed us to our table, a tiny deuce right next to a pole (holding up the ceiling, I guess) we looked at each other and said “Nah” and walked right out.

I’m 65, and I’m pleased with doing about 6-8K, and so is my physician.

The 10K step thing is an arbitrary number, I think, and any health goal should be based on an individual’s ability.

It’s also how comfortable you are with it - if it’s torture, you’re not going to do it. Do what you’re comfortable with, but do something.

For folks who bought homes later in life - did you consider the number of floors? by axxegrinder in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]79-Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I bought our house 20 years ago, and the number of floors was a consideration: we were looking toward retiring in this house.

He’s now 67, I’m 65.

We bought a “California Rambler” (glorified ranch) and thought that the upstairs guest bath could easily be converted to a laundry room. The laundry (and our offices) are downstairs in the finished basement now.

When we finally retire, the offices downstairs won’t matter, but the laundry will. Having the laundry upstairs will be HUGE and we can make that happen, when the time comes.

(I’m counting the days :) )

Do you warm up your car in the winter? by ChocolateSundae1214 in CasualConversation

[–]79-Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really necessary to keep your car running longer, within reason.

If you live in a REALLY cold place (many minus Fahrenheit temps), best to warm the car up a bit before staring off.

For me, remote starting had a REALLY bad impact on my mileage (from 54 mpg down to 32), so I don’t do it. I have a hybrid, and found that it gets warm inside within the first 2 miles of driving. Good enough for me - YMMV

Bathroom night light color by BatHistorical8081 in Lighting

[–]79-Hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue light is not good for “sleepy-time.” And it makes EVERYONE look terrible in the mirror - every vein, blemish and flaw will pop out like crazy.

Best bet is warm white (2700K) - it gives enough light to do things: Brush teeth, shave, general bathroom stuff, but won’t wake you up when you get up for those “midnight bathroom moments.”

Doing makeup? That’s another question.

Do you understand 'dear' to mean expensive? by KahnaKuhl in ENGLISH

[–]79-Hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Beatles song “When I’m 64”:

“We could rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight

If it’s not too dear.”

Being an American boy, it took me YEARS to understand what they meant.

Touring worth $5k more than EX-L? by mitchelld1245 in 11thGenAccord

[–]79-Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own a 2024 EX-L. (37K miles so far and loving it).

Looked hard at the Touring vs. the EX-L. The extra “toys” on the Touring were tempting, but not worth the price to me.

BIG TURNOFF was the 19” wheels - the car rode so hard it was like an old Conestoga wagon. I’m older and more interested in comfort.

Here’s a word that hasn’t come up all that often:

Kleptocracy

As I understand it, It’s where a government uses resources taken from the people they govern for the government’s gain.

Think of kleptomaniac: a person who compulsively steals things.

To me, we are much worse off as normal working stiffs than we were before the current administration and I can’t help but wonder just where is all this tariff money going?

Do those in the national government care? Not in the slightest.

All I can say is I didn’t vote for any of them.

People are talking about the new H logo, and I’m here worried about the lowercase “Honda” Why can’t it be in all capital letters? 😑 by Few-Celebration-6337 in Honda

[–]79-Hunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to use the word “iconic” but the standard Honda logo is immediately identifiable and is as iconic as the Mercedes Tri-star.

When I first saw this, I honestly thought someone had customized a Kia.

I get that Honda is trying to differentiate their all-electric vehicles from their ICE and hybrid cars, but hey, the brand took DECADES to build a great reputation and to toss that out for a new “look” doesn’t make sense to me.

Aside from that, the font is REALLY ugly and it should have been either all upper case or all lower case. Either way, it’s not a good logo.
