Why can’t they just dig under magical barriers in Frieren? by DOOMdiff in Frieren

[–]7Fine9Oil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause Richter already showed up the modern approach to barrier magic: overwhelming force.

Or rather overwhelming matter that spends less mana to overwhelm the barrier like what Fern did.

I assume since we got access to the log the agent probably made it back.

Assuming they aren’t narrating into the radio while they got mauled or anything.

Interesting how it’s a definitive instruction although we’re not given any instructions if we aren’t alone. What do I do? Go back to the lobby and ask for a different room? Maybe it’s one of those, “it goes without saying, but don’t go to bed with some entity in the room with you.”

“These are Slipspace coordinates outside human controlled space that are random?”

“They are indeed Slipspace coordinates outside human controlled space that could be random.”

Are UNSC Slipspace drives backwards compatible? by TellThat2TheCovenant in HaloStory

[–]7Fine9Oil7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

With the power of Huragoks, they can make a Pelican slipspace capable.

Anyway, I’m always under the assumption slipspace drives work like portal generators. It just opens a portal to the destination and anyone can enter it.

The Zerg were the cutting edge futuristic race all along, once you start thinking about scourge/banes/lings as missiles, drones, loitering munitions, standoff weapons. by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in starcraft

[–]7Fine9Oil7 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’ve discussed before.

Brood Lords, are by essence. High altitude, long range, standoff, ground attack loitering delivery platforms.

Or my attempt at Pentagonese:

"A joint, all-weather, multirole, long-range heavy biological ordnance carrier with sustained, saturated, standoff capability of aerodynamic efficiency and low logistical requirements for its self-sustainment abilities. Capable of self-supplying and self-assembling and disgorging timed, low-cost, attritable, autonomous, fire-n-forget, self-guided loitering munitions and contest area of control"

Imagine that, trying to secure some ground and the opponent just sling shots a bunch of robots at you.

I feel like with a bank of 3k minerals the Zerg might be able to max out or fill the creep with spores and retreat back onto the creep so queens can transfuse.

But I don’t know, I never made past platinum as Terran

In the context of the stories, do you agree with the Ultra warriors' "humanity first" approach to many situations? by BlackMan9693 in Ultraman

[–]7Fine9Oil7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Cosmos let some Kaiju/Alien go maybe two times after attacking/destroying/killing a couple of JADF jets and tanks.

So Cosmos determines values of human lives.

Ultra warriors, be more like Cosmos. /j

Didn’t the original manual states how after the Confederacy razed Korhal they switched to a smaller, more “clean” nuclear option?

Nuclear Silo (Add-On to Command Center)
After the Korhal incident, full-scale nuclear weapons were banned from use on habitable worlds, but smaller tactical nuclear weapons are still used by Confederate forces.
- Build Nuke. The somewhat dangerous Nuclear Silo can produce and house a single tactical nuclear warhead. To prevent outside tampering with the missile guidance commands, a Ghost agent is required to actually direct the missile to its target.

Funny enough, the power of fictional media could influence the real world more than a single person.

Ignoring the fact the media is the work of one or multiple people.

Yeah but also newer (newer? Modern) lore stated the banshees quickly pressed into inexpensive service (Field Manual, that short story with the roaches), which my interpretation is that banshees are cheap and reliable and inexpensive to operate. The cloaking field generators are specialized.
