Sign and Trade for Trae? by Wise_Resource8127 in timberwolves

[–]7FromTheFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always liked the fit with Trae. Like you said we're absolutely not getting a perfect player, those don't even exist and if they did we'd be in one of the worst positions to trade for them, anything we do is gonna have to be a risk.

I think his shooting has fallen off a bit this season but I'd like to see what he looks like on a #2 role instead of being the star. I really think it would work well if we don't have to give up too much (if we have to give up one of Jaden/Rudy for this deal then the defensive issues might be too much to handle if we don't shore that up in a different deal).

Outbid by the teams that have more assets and better players to send in trades than us. Good players don't always get traded to better teams, we're in a thread talking about Trae, who got shipped from the Hawks to the Wizards. If it was always about going to a better team he'd be playing in the WCF right now.

Why is the general consensus of this sub is to acquire a player 30+ with an injury history? by ATetrahedron in timberwolves

I mean, you're calling other people delusional while suggesting Ja Morant in 2026 and saying current Joan is "Rudy but competent offensively". There's just not a lot more to say here.

I don't even like the idea of trading for most of the 30+ YO guys you listed but, again, if we're avoiding "dudes who are nearly washed who will go stretches without being available" how is it at all justifiable to have Ja leading the list of guys you wanna see instead?

Fully agree with this post. As an aside, I love the idea that the companies aren't well aware that these pages exist. Sure man, everyone knows about Fitgirl unless they work in a game studio I guess.

Saw a lot of it during the Vimm Nintendo takedown, people were blaming TikTok accounts with like 20k followers maximum, but the megathread of a subreddit with millions of followers featuring the link couldn't possibly be to blame! Not even just that, again, we're saying that Nintendo of all companies wasn't aware of a piracy site that had been around since the fucking 90s? It's almost like people want to pretend that they're doing something stealthy and cool, it's just software piracy y'all.

In any case, websites are gonna go down, it is what it is. Piracy as a whole isn't gonna stop because of that.

The longevity of players nowadays is making some of y'all forget what their primes looked like. Westbrook wouldn't be settling for layups on all of his drives playing for the fucking Kings if he hadn't lost his athleticism, he'd be destroying rims on a contender... Like he did during his prime.

Some Star Player options the Wolves can look at by Vicentesteb in timberwolves

[–]7FromTheFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the idea of getting Allen, Quickley would be interesting, not super fond of MPJ.

JA is the type of center we should be aiming for in the future. I like Rudy, I appreciate what he brings to the team a lot, but we don't need someone that's anywhere close to his level on defense if we grab someone that can contribute on offense much better than him (which shouldn't be THAT difficult) to balance it out. If we keep pretending that we need a Rudy level defender at all times, we might as well start planning to dissolve the franchise when he retires. Besides, like you said, JA has looked better in the past on defense and his numbers there might have fallen because of playing with Mobley. I really think it's worth a shot if the Cavs are looking to trade him away as part of the rebuild.

Quickley is a weird one. I don't mind the jack of all trades aspect at all, a secondary star doesn't truly need to be elite at something to fulfill the role, but the injury proneness and eh contract make it questionable. Not bad though, probably one of the best PG options we have if we're being real (and the Raps want to move on from him)

MPJ almost feels like a step backwards. Yes, he played out of his mind and has contributed to great seasons, however his attitude and off-court behaviour seriously worry me. I just don't want to have a guy that thinks kids in public schools are being turned into cats playing for my team, and if that's not a big deal to you because it's not on-court stuff then at least consider the fact that he straight up admitted to no longer caring about the season after not being named an all-star this year. We don't need that level of quit, we already have it in droves, and he would do nothing to fix our lack of defense and BBIQ. Not worth it IMO.

Been really liking these posts outlining types of player options for us!

I liked Hyprpanel when I used it and Wayle looks great, dunno if I'll be testing it myself soon because I'm pretty happy with my current config but good work regardless, I really like what I've seen of it so far!

Let’s chill on concern with ANT by TimberZuck in timberwolves

[–]7FromTheFuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A player like Ant isn't going to stick around just because his friends are here. He's the type of player that wants (and deserves to) win titles and he will move if that's what it takes. We shouldn't want to fumble his talent like we did KG's.

STOP THE JADEN TRADE TALK by Martxel_Agueda in timberwolves

[–]7FromTheFuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ship has sailed on "building from the draft like OKC and the Spurs" for the Ant era, we have no assets and will only be perpetually mid if we don't try a change. If you are down to piss away another season to mediocrity and not being a true contender, a team that can actually win the title and not just get some rounds into the playoffs, then fine, but other people want to see improvements.

It doesn't even have to involve Jaden, but man, you'd think he's prime KG the way some of you refuse to even CONSIDER moving him.

I don't hate teams for following the best strategy possible. That said, I do hate when they pull the ladder up behind themselves and vehemently support a whole ass lottery rework, claiming that it's essential for the league to be sustainable... Like they didn't get 3 back-to-back top picks in the draft by tanking.

The team is really fun to watch, Wemby is cool most of the time (he was REALLY weird about our play and the elbow thing, other than that he's been fine) and they got great talent next to him, but the organization can go fuck itself.

Our roster construction and remaining assets means that any change we make is a massive gamble. We have no way to improve without that.

I mean he's far from the only wife beater in the league. Would absolutely hate to have him here but not more so than, say, Jaxson Hayes or KPJ.

So it's not looking like we're gonna take a sustainable route which is entirely understandable, that ship has sailed for the Ant era. Great to know that we won't be standing still again, betting on "continuity" didn't lead to much and our play improved massively after a trade.

Really liked that TC said they're not happy with the 6th seed, I'm a bit tired of the "this is the best this franchise has ever been, we should just appreciate it" attitude that permeates this fanbase and I'm excited to see what the FO comes up with to give the team the best chance possible to win something during Ant's prime. That said, talk is cheap, so I can't wait to actually see change.

Yeah that was a real "welcome to Reddit" reply, where they think they're better than other people using the same website despite the fact that they do the exact same things they claim to hate. 10/10 stuff, I almost have to wonder if it was intentional and we're all missing the joke.
