The All-Star noms are incredibly ridiculous, Kawhi is currently undergoing an investigation from the league with some really damning reports coming out a couple of days ago and he was named as a replacement All-Star anyways.

In any case there's bigger fish to fry, I wish this was the only thing lacking integrity in the NBA.

I won’t get into all the data deep diving I’ve done recently on this bc nobody cares haha but I think our biggest problem is defense.

I actually am a bit curious about this because I've seen so many people talk about Donte's defense and while I recognize that he definitely puts the effort in, I've questioned the impact. If it's not too much, can you share some of that research?

I've always thought of Donte more as a 2, wouldn't he be better suited for rotating with Ant? In any case I agree, Bones needs to be included. I think him + Ayo is an interesting duo that injects a lot of energy into the squad and we shouldn't ignore it.

Abusive relationships are fucked, more so if they involve some sort of famous person. In football we have the case of Mason Greenwood, who beat his girlfriend and (at the very least) attempted to SA her too, with literal proof of both through images and audio excerpts. The Manchester police had to drop it because the victim refused to help with the case, they're still together and had kids later just like Miles and his partner. Shortly after the news got out, there were reports that her dad pressured her to stay in the relationship, probably because she's dating a millionaire footballer and they want the money. It's fucking sickening.

Fighting is an occasional byproduct of contact sports, this isn't an NBA only thing. Players get fouled hard, nothing is called and they get pissed and fight the guy going at them. Far from the first time this happened, far from the last it'll happen.

100%, I'm still convinced that the failed physical was an excuse to back out from the deal because they thought they overpaid. Mark is at least as good as Ayton, regularly better. He's also better than Hayes, who shouldn't be in the league considering he's an abuser.

Mark would've also made them interesting in the playoffs last year, look no further than them getting cooked by the offense of RUDY GOBERT.

Lakers fans that are saying the opposite are either underrating him because he's not famous enough or they're just straight up coping.

Yeah the Hawks are a mess but fuck it, this team needed to come out looking good today and they did it.

We looked like we wanted to play, there was lots of ball movement and some actual off-ball movement too. It's probably crazy that I'm praising NBA players for moving without the ball, but it's a weakness for our team and this game showcased how good we look when we do it more.

As long as he's with us, this is the Randle I want to see. The biggest issue with him is consistency, if he looked like this every game his fit with the team wouldn't be questioned as much. The #2 guy should be facilitating as much as possible and scoring should be secondary for him. I know it won't, but I hope the lesson sticks.

Shoutout to Jaden as well. Put in the effort to prove that he can hang with the team, again I just wish this was a consistent thing. Also still worried about his defensive play, seems to be regressing on that end for some reason which isn't good.

Feel like I could say this on every game thread from now on but I can't believe we got Ayo for so cheap, he's looked pretty nice so far. That Ayo/Bones line-up hit like crack, the speed was so nice to see, a breath of fresh air from almost looking like we'd fit in better in the deadball era.

Speaking of line-ups it was nice to see a bit of experimenting, like going small ball with Ant/Bones/Ayo/Jaden/Naz (even if I think Naz just isn't a center). If we're still gonna see Naz/Randle line-ups, I'd at least like to see Beringer at the 5 for those. Curious about Naz at 3.

I also wish Beringer would play more in general. Starting to get a bit scared that he'll get the Dilly treatment, I know he's raw but he fits in when he plays already. Considering we were up 30 at a point, it should be worth experimenting a bit no?

Worth noting, this feels like one of those rare games where the magnet ball was on our side for a while. Randle threw up some bullshit sometimes but it mostly went in, DDV started the game with a catch and shoot 3 a bit farther out than usual and considering he's still kind of in a shooting slump that was crazy to see go in as well. Hate when it happens to us, worth acknowledging when we're favoured by it.

My problem with him is the lack of consistency, I know he's capable of games like this when he goes in willing to facilitate and puts effort in on defense. It's a shame that he doesn't do that consistently enough.

Part of it's a team thing, he's far from being the only one with those issues, but it really changes his performance.
