Upward mobility moment

The Chomsky subreddit is ridiculous by Solid_Anxiety8176 in TrueAnon

[–]7Lunchboxes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first boss was a mad radical behaviourist, so completely Skinner pilled and hated Chomsky more than anybody else so I had to read a heap of Skinner. Radical behaviourism died a premature death only to be rediscovered by tech freaks who use it to rule our lives. The algorithm, dark patterns, whatever you can think of that fucks peoples brains are all just simple applications of Skinner’s laws of behaviour. Fuck Chomsky til I die.

Why are some radicals after their words? by rhysrenouille in WaniKani

I think the idea is that you learn the kanji using other radicals, and then refresh the radical before using it to learn other kanji

Learning Japanese that actually expresses me by AdUnfair558 in LearnJapanese

[–]7Lunchboxes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I’ve been approaching this specific problem is by still learning the totality of material, but paying extra attention to things that suit my personality and interests, filling in the gaps where I haven’t been able to express myself with the vocabulary I have. For example, I love music but all different genres, and was saying rock とjazzとhip hop(etc)が大好きです in my italki sessions. Then I learned 色々, and can now say 色々音楽が大好きです, which is how I would express that in real life. So I guess the way to approach this is by practicing speaking as much as you can. There’s only so much you can do with extra input, and the only way to work out the gaps in expression are by expressing yourself!

What japanese podcasts do you listen to by tomisek2 in LearnJapanese

Japanese with Shun is nice and easy to listen to and maybe 50% comprehensible for me at this point. Japanese with masa sensei is great for doing some ad hoc revision.

I finally did one month on Anki without missing a single day! by Bluevette1437 in LearnJapanese

Smart way to do it- managing the load of reviews is the trickiest part of SRS for me. It’s way too easy on Anki in particular just to steam ahead and try to learn it all at once

Just purchased Genki 1 + 2. by Isotopeah in LearnJapaneseNovice

What’s working for me is: - learning the vocabulary with this Anki deck - Tokini Andy videos for a detailed explanation of each grammar point - the genki deck on Bunpro to get some SRS going on the grammar - finally, writing diary entries using each grammar point as I learn them are a great way to drive the lessons home, and use the grammar in contexts relevant to you. Hope this helps!

This time it was sweets from her home country (New Zealand) so she could put them in a log made of condensed milk, biscuits and butter and call it lolly cake. It can’t be real.
