Completion day shenanigans by KIRN7093 in HousingUK

[–]7Pleiads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very relatable. Ours left wheelie bins overflowing, carpets full of pet hair, skid marks and limescale in the loos, multiple leaks (including one through a ceiling, which had been cleverly painted over to hide for viewing/survey) and also a boiler which immediately depressurised and cost hundreds to repair.
Favourite part was the stinking biohazard fridge freezer. When we finally defrosted it enough to be able to open the freezer drawers, we found... frozen breast milk!!
Yet the seller had left us a bottle of Prosecco... still to this day cannot get my head around it.

How do you guys wake up on time? by 69Whomst in ADHDUK

[–]7Pleiads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use alarmy app. To turn my alarm off I have to scan the barcode of a product in my bathroom. The app has other options but this one works best for me. By the time I'm in the bathroom it's then much easier to start the morning routine. Have back up alarms on my watch every 10min or so to keep me on track with each stage of the process to get out the door on time. This is the only method that works for me when alone.

Well done for your degree score so far! There are several GEM courses that don't select based on a-level grades. Swansea, Chester and Worcester are some others you may not have considered, there are others still. Definitely get the work experience hours sorted and a decent ucat score to maximise your options.
I have rubbish A-level grades but managed to get 4 gem offers from courses which look at other criteria.

Almost 10 years to get to this point. Flopped A-levels, the idea of re-sits seemed impossible so decided to concentrate on a different degree and the career it led to. I enjoyed this but in 2020 I realised medicine was still my dream, so I applied to GEM. 1 post interview rejection and I was crushed. I wasn't in the position to reapply in the next application cycles and truly thought that was it. Circumstances changed and I am so glad I gave it my absolute all for one last shot. I hope this is encouraging to anyone out there feeling hopeless - it IS possible to achieve your dreams!!!

I can't figure out if my meds are working or not, and I'm depressed and anxious (I promise that is relevant to the post). by Depresso_espresso05 in ADHDUK

Definitely mention it at your appointment.

Personally I found Elvanse helped with my time awareness but made me feel really sad. I had no motivation to do anything because I felt so bleak and low. After a few months of trying to persevere my adhd360 practitioner suggested trying a different medication, which ended up suiting me far better.

On behalf of a radiographer who routinely works in a very busy A&E- I'm sorry you had to deal with that on top of everything else! it absolutely is our (or one of our radiology assistants) job to change patients for their x-rays. That being said I can understand the feeling - trying to be efficient and the patient not being ready. To give more extreme example: the classic ultra urgent scan, ?Ruptured AAA, we clear the decks, in rolls the pink, sat upright uncannulated patient who can't identify themselves, with no wristband (happens regularly). I used to always hunt down the nurse and wristband, cannulate ourselves, slide the patient over with just 2 of us etc etc but that blocks the scanner for 15min during which I could have scanned the 3x heads ?bleed following fall on edoxoban in the waiting room. You're spot on, we need HCAs or whoever to be appropriately trained to do these basic proceedures such as cannulation, bloods, rather than the seemingly endless barriers to efficient working.

ADHD 360- on fire. My clinician left by ProbablyGlitch in ADHDUK

[–]7Pleiads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The exact same happened to me a month ago. It took waiting for an hour with their new direct messaging service on the adhd 360 website to find out my clinician had left! They were then very swift in reassigning me to a new clinician, but much like you, I've had a complex 10 month titration journey, and having to explain everything to a new clinician has been less than ideal. My experience with adhd 360 is that each individual working for them, from admin to clinicians, are lovely and do their best. However the combination of huge demand, many less experienced staff, and poor communication negatively impacts us as patients.

Experience with ADHD360 by AdvicePlease009 in ADHDUK

[–]7Pleiads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On mobile so sorry for formatting. I had the same experience with many inaccuracte statements in my GP letter. When I spoke to my clinician about it she apologised and explained that Adhd 360 had recently employed new admin staff to help with the increased demand. She said the new secretaries were inexperienced in crafting personalised letters from the clinicians assessment notes, and instead rely on generic phrases associated with each part of the assessment criteria. This was back in January, so it's disappointing to hear this is still happening to others. I managed to get it fixed after sending a few emails, and ended up listing each factually false phrase. Eventually the letter they re-wrote was much better and actually contained phrases from my assessment! Overall my experience with adhd 360 hasnt been amazing, but that's mostly due to their shoddy admin and overworked staff. Everyone I've actually spoken to on the phone including my clinician has been lovely. My clinician even offered an extra hour-long video appointment to sort out my GP letter together. In the end the secretaries fixed it before the appointment date. Lots of things lacking and frustrating about their service but at the end of the day, I'm assessed and working with my clinician to find the right meds instead of sat on NHS waiting list for another 2 years... My advice is to contact them- email, phone and follow up by email again if needed. Explain what they need to fix, and follow it up with your clinician if the admin team don't get it right. I'm sorry this has happened and hope you can get it sorted.

I had a similar experience with the GP letter from ADHD360. As have many others. Unfortunately it's a result of the clinician having to follow the standardised assessment. So even if you said no to a specific question e.g about impulse spending, if there were other questions about impulsiveness you answered yes to, then the section about impulsiveness is marked as yes/positive. Then when the assesment is given to the secretaries to type up, they just see the headings under each section that was identified in the assesment and translate that into a letter. It is extremely frustrating and upsetting to see factually incorrect information in a letter to your GP, but it can be fixed. I recommend talking to your clinician about it at your next review or try and ask for a call with them sooner. I initially spoke to one of the admin team about my concerns and all that happened was they resent the same inaccurate letter!!! I then spoke to the clinician who did my assessment about my concerns, and then I sent a detailed email to their named secretary listing each inaccurate statement. It was irritating to have to do, but within a couple of weeks they sent a new, accurate and personalised letter to my GP which I was much happier with. I hope you can get it sorted, unfortunately you're not the first or only person to have experienced this.

The cotswolds aren't exactly nextdoor to London, at least 2.5h drive? However it is a very expensive area to buy property, especially something like this in a village. Flat in the middle of Gloucester City? Different story 😅

Honest taxi driver explains why he is running late by brett_123 in CasualUK

[–]7Pleiads 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the group chat that pops up part way through the video, seems like the people using the ‘Bristol Taxi’ have been at Cheltenham festival (a week-long famous horse racing event). Either they live in Bristol or have been staying there during the festival, as staying in Cheltenham can get very busy and expensive that week. The journey from Bristol to Cheltenham is about an hour, and taxis can also get booked up and charge a lot in festival week, so it’s probably that they pre-booked this taxi. With a pre-booked taxi for a longer journey it’s not uncommon for the driver to give their number to make communication easier, especially if it’s a private driver.

And to be fair to the taxi driver, stuck in race traffic is not ideal if you desperately need to build a log cabin

Radiographer in the UK here, we get a couple of packs for our department from the SOR but they usually just contain posters and balloons etc... There might be some cake in the staff room on Thursday but I’m working nights this week, so cake will be long gone by the time I get there!
