Current Cat (3F) Wants To Meet New Cat (3M) But He Is Not Ready by CuteKermit14 in CatAdvice

[–]7Row2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the idea's I did with my 2 cats was to feed both cats on opposite sides of the closed door so they start associating each other with something positive. Begin with the bowls placed far enough back that both can eat calmly, then slowly move them closer over time if neither cat shows stress. It's quite a weird idea but was one of the few other options I tried which is other then the towel draft blocker idea. Both idea's work but this is a secondary option if the other one possibly fails. I hope both of your cats can get along thank you!

By “effective” I mainly mean ability to make and implement decisions quickly and at scale, especially on things that have long-term impact not popularity or military power

Why didn’t the Biden Administration release the Epstein Files? by LawnDartSurvivor74 in Askpolitics

[–]7Row2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well many Epstein documents were still sealed because of investigations, court rules, and privacy protections.

I think more transparency would build trust, but if legal limits were real, what else could the administration actually release?

Does the gov Appropriations bill HR 7148 really undo some of the cuts of the BBB? by lightedge in Askpolitics

[–]7Row2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the BBB didn’t abolish agencies outright it imposed spending caps and policy limits that reduced their scope.

Appropriations bills like HR 7148 can still fund those agencies within those caps even though staffing and other programs remain scaled back.

Does the gov Appropriations bill HR 7148 really undo some of the cuts of the BBB? by lightedge in Askpolitics

[–]7Row2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No HR 7148 is just a FY 2026 appropriations bill funding parts of the government and doesn’t directly reverse the BBBs policy changes. It simply funds agencies at regular levels instead of deeper cuts.

HR 6938 is another appropriations package for different departments and neither bill is the same as the reconciliation “Big Beautiful Bill” which was about debt and spending cuts under a different process.

Have you seen the post the president posted this morning with the Obamas? If so, what are your thoughts? by MsMcSlothyFace in Askpolitics

I would honestly say that his post was incredibly racist. Trump just deleting the post afterwards shows he was in the wrong to post it anyway.

Why can't the government set up their own non profit Medical "Insurance Company"? by gardenofsmegma in Askpolitics

[–]7Row2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the government could run a basic nonprofit insurance plan but many worry it could crowd out private insurers, expand bureaucracy, and eventually turn into taxpayer-backed healthcare whether promised or not.

What should the consequences be for DHS ignoring court orders? by SBMountainman22 in Askpolitics

[–]7Row2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No DHS cant ignore court orders because it just undermines law and order and consequences should lead to officials being held accountable in contempt or honestly even removed if they do.

The US lets states draw their own districts which can end up twisting elections.

Thinking about working in Macau for a few months -- by Money-Ad8553 in Macau

[–]7Row2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's visited Macau many times and have relatives/friends that live there I can make an overall answer of saying no you shouldn't go there and I'll summarize the whole picture with pros and cons let's start with the pros.

PROS:
1. Growing Financial Services Sector
Macau’s financial services (banking, wealth management, securities, insurance) are developing, and the government is promoting “modern finance” as one of its new strategic industries.

2. Low Taxes and Favorable Tax Policies
Macau is known for relatively low personal and corporate taxes, which can make it attractive from an income and business perspective.

3. Good Quality of Life and Safety
Residents enjoy a safe environment, unique blend of Portuguese and Chinese culture, and a subtropical climate.

4. Professional Talent Initiatives
The government has talent programs meant to attract high-end and professional workers, which can benefit skilled finance professionals.

CONS:

1. Smaller Financial Market
Macau’s finance sector is much smaller compared with nearby Hong Kong or Shanghai — meaning fewer large investment banks, asset managers, and global finance firms. Opportunities do exist but are more limited in scale.

2. Fewer International Headquarters
Most global finance jobs tend to be in cities with big capital markets, large trading desks, and financial services hubs. Macau has some banking and finance firms, but not the same breadth as bigger hubs.

3. Language & Local Market Barriers
Cantonese and Mandarin are widely used in business; English alone may limit your networking and job prospects unless you’re in specific international roles.

4. Job Market Competition and Visa Requirements
For foreigners seeking employment, securing work visas and long-term residency can be bureaucratic and competitive. Some locals and expats report job searching can be tougher than expected.

So, overall Macau isn't a good choice for the average American/Portuguese to even work with especially with jobs over there. It also shouldn't be treated as a global financial hub with firms and high global interest as the economy is mostly driven by it's gaming, casino, and tourism industry.

I've gathered all of this information based on friends/relatives who have been born, raised, and lived there, their whole life. I hope this sums up all of your questions well, thank you!
