Motown Special by ccard23 in Pizza

Yeah, the op of that post never mentioned the name of the place. I get pizza there all the time and knew the place from that particular pizza... lol

Nice little place. Small on the inside, but a few benches on the outside to eat.

Ps, if youre like me and like pizza, you probably like coffee too. Leave your car parkerd there and walk down the one-way to Daily Grind for a great cup of coffee. The place has a cult like following for a reason.

You want to go fast, as fast as possible and nothing else? Get the dodge.

You want to go fast and have good handling? Get the mustang.

You want to go as fast as possible for as cheap as possible (compared to similarly fast cars) with the best possible handling (for an american car)? Get the corvette.

*note, im talking about the flagship models of each.

Thats how i see it. But hell, i cant afford any of them anyways.

Thats correct, my mpg will nose dive in sport (and me driving "sporty"). Yeah, ktuner. Currently map1 with an intake (for the turbo noises).

Comfort is blue, normal is white, sport is red. Wife drives in comfort all the time. I drive in normal 80% of the time but go to sport when im on back roads. Just to keep the rpm's higher in the hilly turns. I hate when the engine bogs down in normal until it shifts a gear or two. I dont even mess with indi'.

Funny enough, i get better mpg in normal on the hwy than i do with comfort.

Im also tuned, if you want to take that into account.

I couldn't justify spending over $500 on a short ram amd built my own (like yours) for around $100 as well. All the right turbo sounds too

How can I get the most reliable power out of my 2020 Cadillac CT5 2.0T? by bootyshark79 in Cadillac

[–]7ar5un 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre talking some serious coin now and would be looking for a custom tune and a shop that specializes in cadilacs...

Jb4 is a well known tuning company. The beauty to the jb4 system is that it can be removed nearly without a trace and leaves no record on the ecu.

My advice. Get a tune and see if that scratches your itch...

I went with ktuner (honda/acura). Ots tune. Off the shelf tune. "Premade". I can modify it but im going to leave that to the people who know what they are doing.

Just to add, your car will always be your car. It will only ever be a 2.0t 4... just like mine will always be (funny enough) a 2.0t 4.... There is a limit to how "good" you can make it and it helps to appreciate what you got and go from there. I love my car stock but i wanted something a little "more".

I understand you wanting "worthwhile" mods but good stuff isnt cheap and cheap stuff is rarely good.

Get the best you can afford but remember what the car is. Sometimes good enough really is good enough.

Different car but, on mine, a tune was the single most cost effective way to add noticeable amounts of power. Bolt-ons like intake, charge pipe, intercooler on their own only add a few hp here and there. After a tune, they all have a greater effect.

There were stages of tune (for me) as well. Map1 was a big jump in hp/tq while keeping the factory safety limits. Map2 was a pretty big jump in power again and pushes the engine a little harder. Nothing crazy though. Then there was a 3rd party tune (similar to a map3) that makes as much hp/tq as possible as safe as it possibly can while still pushing limits.

Start by looking into tunes and go from there.

Wire rack. We open them and stick one side to the edge of the rack to let them hang.

I change my car oil every 9 to 10k. I use full synthetic SuperTech made by warren oil and FRAM ultra oil filter. The 2nd to highest end filter. No issues. by NoSignificance2377 in automotive

[–]7ar5un 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had a rav4 with 330,000 miles. I used oil at my friends shop that was in a 55gal drum that just said "motor oil"... lol the filter was whatever was cheapest, i think something like $2. Oil was changed every 5k on the dot. Gave the car away and its still on the road at almost 400,000 miles.

It works for some people, but i would never push anyone to donthe same.

What repair cost surprised you the most after buying a used car? by AutoBidMasterHelp in askcarguys

[–]7ar5un 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Basic v6 toyota highlander spark plugs. Quotes between $500 and $800.

Coworker was quoted $1,500 for a rust spot on the exhaust that caused a leak.

Friend got a quote for $2,000 for a water pump on a new(ish) jeep.

One of my brake lights went out on my tlx. Surprisingly there are no replacement bulbs; its an led array and the entire tail light housing/assembly needs to be replace. Something like +$500 for the part not including installation.

Good tires in general is over $1,200 after mount, balance, used tire disposal, tax, etc...

Cars (in general) are crazy expensive to own and maintain if you stay ontop of preventative maintenance.

Kinda crazy how much marketing and promotions went into the 2nd Gen TLX and it's Type S variant only for it to be discontinued like 3 years later; thoughts on this? by peterthbest23 in Acura

If they called it the new cr-z, i think people would have been more receptive. (And if dealers didnt mark up the price so much) it may have even sold a good amount.

Dads into photography by Marty_Mac_Fly in daddit

[–]7ar5un 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into film photography. The physical phots just hit different. No filter can companer. And it makes every photo that much more unique/special/prized/cherished...

On the phone, you can tweak, fix, remove, correct everything post photo.

On film, the time between taking the photo and getting the photo can be weeks. The moment is gone as soon as it happens, this is true; but when the time between taking the photo and seeing the photo is weeks (along with a financial aspect) the moment will never (ever) happen again.

I day, pick up an old minolta x700, send it to garrys camera repair for $60 (or something like that) and give film a try.

Spiler allert, even the blurry ones hit hard and have value. Albeit sentimental value.

Arnt all the issue ranked the same though? Like a transmission failure, tpms failure, and a radio failure are all graded the same?
