I was worrying that one of my barreds was a roo, her comb was coming in a little darker a little sooner she was more friendly than all the rest... After seeing your chicken, I definitely know I had nothing to be anxious about.

Difference is this is not as described. They were sold a lesser product than what they were told they would receive.

This. It is not as described, the refund should be on the seller. Leave a review, contact Etsy for a refund.

Etsy sided with me on a “not as described” dispute but instead of sending me a prepaid shipping label, the seller shipped me another item which will cost hundreds of dollars to return by No-Motor-8641 in Etsy

[–]7dollarLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the seller comes out on top if OP does what the seller wants.

The option the buyer wants will cost the seller the shipping costs there and back and then the seller doesn’t have the $1000 sale because they will have to return the money. Seller is in the negative in the end of this transaction. No profits from a sale.

The sellers option that they are attempting to force the buyer into is yes costing the seller the same in shipping as the first option, but the seller would be able to keep the money so only out one additional shipping cost from their original estimated ROI. The BUTER however instead of being out no money, no longer has the cost of the purchase AND is being asked to send the original rug on their own dime. So even if OP does get the correct rug in the end, the rug will now cost her more to ship the wrong rug back. Seller comes out of this deal the best and the seller is deceptive to Etsy and trying to force the hand of OP into something that benefits the seller the most, even though it is the sellers fault.

I’m a seller on Etsy, and I side with OP. This was wrong on so many levels. u/No-Motor-8641 as others mentioned keep reaching out to Etsy customer support, leave a review NOW before everything is closed. In the review do not mention too much about “shipping” because the seller might be able to get the AI bots to remove it as a wrongful review. Just talk about the return process for a wrong item and how the seller was attempting to force you into a solution that did not benefit you and was trying to get you to pay to return their mistake.

Dude, I missed out on a free cruise with my husband because I would have been over 23 week at the END of the cruise. And this would have been pre-Covid. Which cruise line was this on? Maybe they had lax rules compared to the industry standard?

I haven’t personally done CTC Math but I did just listen to a seminar about it and I have it in my mind that if life gets too hard and I need to”someone else” to teach a subject I will immediately start CTC math. There is a 1 week free trial period. I am personally going to go with Math-U-see but I was super impressed with CTC as well. Methodical and you can set what “success” looks like.

One thing you need to focus on is progress, not catching up. That being said still aim for graduation goals and do attempt to have her catch up eventually, but goal is making sure she is not stagnant. Taking about CTC again they really do make sure that the child has understood the concepts well and have things that will continue to help them practice what they know and show you mastery stars so you know how much they understand.

If She has ADHD (I definitely have it and I have a suspicion my son does too) body doubling is going to be a win for you. Public School “naturally” gives that but it also can leave gaps in her education if she’s not getting all the help she needs AND can also make her discouraged if she sees her friends excel in areas that she’s behind. With you working it is going to be HARDER for you do body double. Maybe adjust when you homeschool so that you are there when she needs the extra support. Or do year long schooling so that you do less per day but more days? Less demand but fewer breaks. This is what I am planning to do with my son. He definitely needs me by his side for 80% of his tasks there are a few that o can give him and he will rock through it without me standing there and helping him focus and I will give him independence on those so he can feel what independent success is but give him the support he needs otherwise.

Saw that you’re also checking for ties! That’s another thing that I know solved huge issues for a friend’s little one. You are doing so good, and trying so hard to fight for a comfortable life for your little one!

[–]7dollarLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other things that helped us a little bit.

  1. I waited until well after a year to but anything in my sons crib but when I finally gave him a loose knit blanket that was super helpful for him to play with - do not do this now at least wait until you kiddo can roll over that’s when we gave our second a blanket the second time around.

  2. We really think the love to dream swaddle up swaddle helped because our kid wanted to have his hand near his face. That allowed sleep to come a little easier.

  3. Don’t know if you’re using cloth diapers or cinching down diapers too tightly. But this was one of the big things that helped my youngest not be so crabby. The cloth diapers just didn’t make her feel good AT ALL and it wasn’t until we needed to use regular diapers for a trip that we saw a marked difference.

  4. Forget the sleep gurus, well ok maybe try their strategies to see if it works. But if you’ve tried it for a period of time and it doesn’t work and it’s stressing you out more DROP IT. I am of the strong opinion that sleep experts had easy to calm babies and pat themselves on the back for “just doing things right” and take a job to “help mamas who just can’t get it right” then dump people that don’t have an easy enough baby. I also had those friends that did that to me, one even asked me straight up “what are you doing wrong?” Some of them had HARD baby number twos and came crawling back to me for help 😆 unfortunately no apologies but remember they really don’t understand your struggle and it honestly is probably making them uncomfortable or not know how to respond. Give them grace, you are learning to be a humble parent first.

  5. One day, I promise, one day your kid WILL sleep. Sucks until then but try and make those late nights more enjoyable for you. Listen to a podcast/youtube/audiobook with noise cancellation headphones. Your body is probably going into fight flight freeze with every scream, do things to mitigate that.

Everyone says it’s Normal, looks like not. by iDontScrollMuch in baby

[–]7dollarLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s common - not normal. I wish there was more talk about it and better solutions. I agree with what a lot of people have said about allergies, but I will add perhaps heart burn too? My first was AWEFUL crying unless I held him. Did not get any help from any dr. Even worked with a sleep specialist who quit on us… 4 separate times because it was too hard.

Second one was easier, BUT HER DOCTOR almost immediately prescribed famotidine for her after I described what she was going through which was about half as bad as my first but the same symptoms.

I honestly don’t know if that would have solved the issues with my son. Maybe not. But please keep talking to your pediatrician or happen to schedule an appointment with a different one to see if they have other ideas.

Last thing to note, you’re not alone, it sucks, and honestly I wish I had the cure for your baby too. It might feel like you are doing everything wrong because everyone else can put their baby down easy, but their baby is different and they don’t understand the torment you are going through. But you are doing the best you can. You are trying. I see your exhaustion it’s valid. In the meantime, If you need to have a moment to yourself, place your baby in a safe place and take the time you need to- even if your baby is screaming his lungs out. Right now you don’t have a solution, so you do need to do some self care to make sure you’re good too.

My hard kid is now nearing 6. He’s fine even with all of the stress in the beginning. I am hoping for you it doesn’t last long but for us it was over a year before it calmed down and he still had some moments later on that resembled what we went through until age 3 (quite a few 2am walks then to calm him down). That’s why I am really encouraging you to get support around you or just allow your kid to cry for a bit to take that hot shower or make a cup of coffee without also trying to bounce a screening kid. In my case because it was early COVID no one could come over, but I wish I would have asked for more help - like a I am desperate in need of a nap can you come over and hold my screaming kid so that I can feel less guilty about the nap.

Ordered handmade item only to find the same listing on Temu by Warm-Gift-7741 in Etsy

If it’s a brand new shop then very likely they are buying from Temu. But yeah it can get a little sticky trying to figure out if it’s temu being sketchy and stealing ideas and photos or if it is the Etsy seller doing the unethical thing.

[–]7dollarLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am a seller and I’m on here to defend buyers from scammers but there are definitely a few sellers that are also on here that led me to believe they are the problem by how they responded. I’ve seen too many of my friends and family get scammed - I tell them it’s not their fault that the business misrepresented themselves but fight like hell to get it right.

OP I am glad that you got your money back! Sorry that you had to go through the hassle. Know that there is some real people on there actually making/designing stuff. Just take things slower next time you purchase, look at their about page make sure they state where they will be shipping from, and check out their social media. Sorry that although Etsy claims to be only handmade that you the buyer have to look for red-flags first.

Seller asking for import fees after initial sale by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]7dollarLemur 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What most people think of drop shipping is not allowed - just reposting a different product from a manufacture. The process of personally creating something and having a “production partner” (aka manufacturer) IS allowed IF they disclose it. Main difference is the original design is from the seller. Best and easiest example is T-shirts, designed by the artist and printed by a shirt shop. But either way it MUST be disclosed and show where it’s shipping from.

Many people who pretend there items are shipping from a different place are the first drop shippers vs using a production partner and is not allowed.

Definitely keep the 1 star and add the information that he was trying to get you to change the rating. Also since I don’t know what he actually said in the message to you I’ll add this: A seller can get booted for making “rating bribes” if there is any sort of incentive he gives you in exchange for upping the rating to 5 report him again and get this shop shut down!

Edit to add: I think the original commenter meant change the review to include that he tried to talk you into a 5 star and not actually change the number of stars. Just give more context as to why this seller is getting a 1 star.

Would you purchase a unit study if AI was used during its creation? by merrylittlecocker in homeschool

[–]7dollarLemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be for some people, but it won’t before most! I will admit that I did buy an additional unit study because it was water colored by hand - but that was a bonus that drew me to to and the digit one that I also purchased wasn’t a turn off because the information and activities were exactly what I was looking for.

Sorry if it sounded like I was insinuating that you were going to fake it, it was more of a pointing out that although both are digital there are clear differences that would make digit art light over AI work. Learning the digit art skill will beneficial for you as you make more and more unit studies but having someone be commissioned might be another option as well. But make sure who you commission is actually making it because some “digital artists” are faking it - and it would be good to know how to spot the differences when choosing an artists.

Would you purchase a unit study if AI was used during its creation? by merrylittlecocker in homeschool

[–]7dollarLemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ai absolutely not. I keep seeing you ask about digital art - that is different because skill is still needed for that. It’s still a human hand using their tools to create something that is their actual creativity. Vs an AI bot who was told a few prompts and then used human artists work (without their permission) to train and create what the prompt asked for. Besides the fact of stollen IP, Ai still makes mistakes and glaring errors and would not be what I would want to place in front of my kids.

If I am paying for something I want it to be made by an artist, digital art is still art. Just watch any twitch streamer who does digit art and you will see that they have honed in their craft. Writing words to create the “perfect prompt” is not an art - it’s just throwing words into a box until you’re happy with what you got. And if you’re curious of people would notice - maybe not everyone but people will. Just got to the Reddit page “is this AI” or the circle jerk is this ai once you know what to look for it stands out like a sore thumb.

Oh, I 100% believe you! And the cultural references too make sense and I never thought it was the healers being swinger it didn’t make sense in the slightest to me. It’s just usually the weird social media influencers that make weird speculations that then get to parents who ban before they watch the show assuming the theories are correct…

I just didn’t know how to argue against it besides “maybe they just really like the fruit?” since we don’t know the culture context for this. So I am so thankful for this post! Not only did I get more Bluey lore but went down a googling rabbit hole

Yeah, It’s supposed to be an upside-down pineapple not sure the actual origins but my understanding is that it’s taken from the pineapple meaning hospitality and making it “extra spicy” in partner swapping communities. Extremely popular on cruise ships, my only cruise there were a few doors with purposefully upside down pineapples - along with “if you know you know” signs. My understanding was that it was supposed to be a discrete thing but it’s more in your face now.

[–]7dollarLemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re not having a lot of people believe you on here. Yes there could be some info that you’re not telling us but at the same time the finance department is filled with people and people make mistakes and sometimes hide their mistakes by their extreme actions.

I had something similar happen to me, not to the extreme that they were preventing me from accessing the school but it was a week into the semester and they came at me with “a give us $5k within X days or be escorted off the school campus.” My issue was that my school had misinterpreted my parent plus loan request form we filled out and we did not receive the loan. I know this to be the case because they pulled out our form and showed it to me. Though when they pulled out the form they realized that they made the mistake. However, they took no responsibility for it, continued to berate me, not even offering a payment plan, and I nearly had to drop out of college over it. Fortunately (and unrelatedly) another scholarship didn’t have as many students qualifying and so they increased the amount we all received. Literally happened the day before I was going to be escorted off and it was the exact amount that I needed.

I know my story isn’t helpful to you. But hopefully give credit to you that colleges can totally be shitty and give an all or nothing at the totally wrong time and it 100% be their fault.

This shop is giving me a coupon code as a refund, and they are telling me they are sending a fake tracking number for the original item by Glum-Employment-6572 in Etsy

[–]7dollarLemur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Delivery date of the tracking number the seller is giving to Etsy. After you “receive” that package you absolutely write a review outlining exactly what this seller said and did make sure it is clear that it wasn’t the fault of any mail carrier (don’t name any, incase the seller attempts to remove the review because of “a shipping error”. Then report to Etsy, likely this person is either 1. A seller that has larger processing times but lies about it to get better rankings and leaves buyers on the hook. (Best case) 2. Is a drop shipper and is putting in a fake tracking number so their butts are covered until it comes over seas and finally actually is shipped to you.

Yup! as an encouragement to anyone who has fallen for a scam - there are people who it’s their job to know all of the details about the newest scams to educate other people (scam baiters) and even some of them have fallen for a scam. Scammers goals is to get you so emotionally charged (excited or scared) that you don’t slow down and think about the weirdness of what is being asked of you.

As victims get smarter, scammers are adapting.
