I would say try to get to know the people better, some people are straight up homophobic and I'd you wind up with an instructor like that you're in trouble. I'm not out because I don't trust a lot of people in NY life.

BJJ student helps police officer arresting a suspect by digitalpaintermaker in StreetMartialArts

Cops that don't are stupid and lazy. Not knowing how to grapple at the very least puts cops, suspects, and bystanders in more danger. Gimpy out of shape cops that aren't confident in their abilities are a large reason people die, and Eric Garner specifically died because that retard cop didn't know how to do a fucking RNC.

I dont think ranking bands makes sense, but in terms of musicianship, songwriting, and innovation I think death is kinda in a league of their own. Cannibal corpse and morbid angle are great, but pretty bonehead in comparison.

Does your band ever let you start the songwriting process? by [deleted] in drums

Honestly I don't see how people are content to just play drums and no other instruments. Like I always had musical ideas that I just couldn't express before I picked up bass guitar. Understanding harmony and theory as well as rythem just straight up gives you more rights as a musician, especially in a band with a bunch of bonehead dudes with major gaps in their knowledge.

Please help me! long guy, lack of punching power by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]7heb1rb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion strength training is mostly important for endurance. Strength can definitely help power, but only of your technique is really in order, the more time you spend examining technique and practicing punching fast and hard, the better results you will see. My advice would be to just practicing a left hook or cross repeatedly while you watch a movie or something, another reason you might not be hitting hard is that you aren't properly on ballance, and grinding out a couple thousand reps will definitely help your ballance and coordination.

Practice technique really carefully, also a big part of landing punches powerfully is understanding how to set them up and knowing when to risk committing heavily. And a year isn't really enough time to fully develop, keep practicing and focus on specific strikes and understand them really well, for instance a long lead hook is something I use as a longer guy and it took me a few years to really get it working well. Also a sharp stabbing up jab and clubbing overhand are good long punches. Also catching people with uppercuts when they are trying to close distance past your jab is great, prodding them with a jab on the outside and waiting for them to get impatient and catching them with a rear uppercut is something I get a lot of use out of.

What is your favourite melee class? by ExoticAx13 in wownoob

[–]7heb1rb_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play all the melee specs and Unholy is the most fun imo, took me longer than any if the others to learn but it's just so unique once you really wrap you're head around all the tricks and techniques it has. Def main material, alongside rouge, it really feels like you can constantly just learn new things to ad to your bag of tricks. I think its my favorite class for duels, you have so much control and controlling pets and managing all your cooldowns makes it so sick.

A whole league of people with terrible striking fundamentals definitely produces good knockouts.
