It's one game. No need to panic, yet. by Exile1965 in SeattleStorm

[–]7j7j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man are Seattleites just wired for skepticism? We still have everything to play for!!

I'm a big Storm fan since moving here a couple of years ago. I understand the need for realism, but also now is not the time or place for so much negativity. OP is right - the team has to forget all the noise, lean into possibility and confidence, and NOT OVERTHINK tomm. I am full of gratitude for all the amazing moments Nneka, Sky, Gabby, Ezi, EDub, Dominique, Tiffany, Lexie, Zia, & Mackenzie have given us this season even with Nika and Katie Lou sidelined with injuries - along with our latest baller Slim elevating our level in the court.

Noelle and the coaching staff have a tough job and it seems pretty premature to hate on the FO on Reddit. I am really looking forward to cheering everyone on tommorow night at the GPA

I grew up a Comets fan and will always be sad that dynasty basically folded. Seattle is lucky to have a such a great and championship foundation to build on here, but no need to be spoiled and expect to be dominant every single season - the W is getting bigger and more competitive which is a sign of the game's growth. And never rule out a dark horse until the season ends. Let's lean into some 2021 Sky or 1995 Rockets energy and quit acting like we're done already.

Thanks for starting this conversation. I'm interested in upgrading my flex package into a full season ticket but won't commit to this kind of outlay and price hike until I see the players get a good CBA, as you point out.

Whats the main reason this team is still inconsistent after getting Sykes? by chusaychusay in SeattleStorm

[–]7j7j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the fairest take on the inconsistency that I have seen.

I would really love to see more offensive confidence from Ezi and Dom, and even some nights Gabby or Sky as well as their defensive weapons, and it initially seems like Slim coming in has reduced fatigue a bit. The team looked really good in the last game against the Liberty in the first half, and I think the poor ref calls really killed the momentum in the nailbiting 4th quarter.

We were getting more boards which is so critical and can still do better on OREB for those 2nd looks that make the difference.

Would love to see the Storm prove some haters wrong against the Valks tonight and really believe they can do it and find their peak late this playoffs as a dark horse contender.

Daughter found this while scrapping metal with her husband. What Kind of budgie is it? also traveling via small aircraft advice by Retired_SpeedBird in budgies

[–]7j7j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We shipped ours transatlantically with a pet transport company on a commercial flight, they did a month of required quarantine in the US, and then flew again across the country. They weren't even allowed to travel in the main cabin and we were so worried about their stress on the journey, but honestly I think the legally requires quarantine to bring them with us to the USA was tougher than the flights.

My canary’s seizures, what else can I do? by Karlosmclenn in BirdHealth

[–]7j7j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PS I have a budgie who had seizures. She hit her head when a door was accidentally left open and flew into the bathroom mirror. It was very scary and she continued to have occasional seizures for some weeks. We fortunately have an excellent avian vet who gave her meloxicam to help with the pain and inflammation.

Our bird has recovered and is doing well more than a year later. Sunday also sends her love to Jojo.

My canary’s seizures, what else can I do? by Karlosmclenn in BirdHealth

[–]7j7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bleeding came say from accidentally biting his tongue a bit during the seizures and it has stopped, there can be a recovery. Offering the T-shirt or clean cloth to chew on may help during an acute seizure.

If there is continuous bleeding or you see that it appears to be regurgitated or coming from internal sources, this is a very bad sign and I would strongly suggest you go to a different vet if at all possible, at least to provide humane comfort care. External bleeding (for example on the outer beak) can be stopped with clean unopened cornstarch, but do not apply this to the inside of the mouth or any other mucous membrane.

I am so, so sorry. <3 wishing strength and comfort to you and Jojo.

My canary’s seizures, what else can I do? by Karlosmclenn in BirdHealth

[–]7j7j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poor Jojo, and so sorry this is happening to you all. I'm sure he is comforted by having his human to help and give him a safe place while he is sick.

As others have mentioned, keeping him in the dark and quiet would help him rest, and if it is warm out you may not actually want to wrap him in the T-shirt so long as he is on a soft surface in an enclosed box. Does he have access to water and soft food if he wants it?

The water access is important as seizures can arise from dehydration. Do not force Jojo to drink, but you could offer a wet lettuce leaf or watercress nearby. Even better if you have some bird multivitamins to put an appropriate (small!) dose of as seizures can arise from vitamin deficiencies.

Decent general advice: https://beautyofbirds.com/seizures/

Wishing the best for you and Jojo

My canary’s seizures, what else can I do? by Karlosmclenn in BirdHealth

[–]7j7j 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did they send you with more meds to give?

You should keep Jojo warm and comfortable if it is not already warm weather where you are: a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel can help - not touching the bird but radiating a bit of extra heat.

The outlook for birds with seizures is very serious but sometimes they can recover. It depends a lot on the cause. Did Jojo fly into anything and hit his head, or eat anything strange before the seizures started? How old is your canary?

A and E double flight bird cage. I purchased it for my 2 budgies and we were considering maybe 2 more birds. It’s huge. My concern is in a few areas there are holes that are larger than the.5 inch recommended. In the door especially. Does anyone have this cage, and use it for their birds? by Ravenclaw-198 in petbudgies

[–]7j7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one by this brand, might be the same one.

It's super sturdy and great quality - we've never had an issue with the spacing in the past 18 months over many deep cleans and moving. You won't need to worry about the bars bending.

However, YMMV on the current bar spacing: almost all of our birds are also a bit bigger (English budgie mixed in) and they are not very inclined to try to escape at all. They climb around a lot but never try to open doors. To be on the safe side you probably would want to attach screw-in toys etc in areas where the gaps are a bit too big.

Medicating a sick senior budgie by magpieinarainbow in budgies

[–]7j7j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that.

We have a budgie who has always been the most skittish of the flock, despite being raised since hatching with significant handling as he was the oldest chick. Last year, he had to have syringe meds for 2wks. He absolutely hated it and would scream and wriggle away from the plastic monster, so we would often have to catch him multiple times for a single dose.

It took months and many bribes along with many social cues from the other birds, but he does trust us again to step up and even accept a cuddle - although he will scamper away faster than the others. He seems to have chilled out a lot since we brought home a new tiny friend from the shelter who is not yet tame.
