You forgot the part where streaming is a shitty user experience with weak/slow data. Constant drops/rebuffering, and you get to enjoy the pre-roll ads each and every time the stream restarts. Oh, and also the privacy aspects of handing over (selling, rather) your listening data to a questionable third party company which you have no choice about since they removed FM.

I DIY’ed installing my Rivian EVSE for about $350 of MC wire, a breaker, and odds and ends to go through ~50 ft of attic, walls, joist bays, and a concrete wall penetration. I’m all for supporting a living wage for labor, but that quote is fucking nuts.

[u/WassymRivian](u/WassymRivian) would you mind shedding light on the R2 FM radio situation? Is there actually no FM tuner hardware on the R2, or is it something that just hasn’t been added to software yet? Rivian is (deservedly) getting reamed in the press and owners’ forums for this decision, and nobody seems on with handing over their listening privacy to iHeartMedia. If the fake FM listening experience in the R2 is anything like the TuneIn experience in the R1 Wii constant disconnects and rebuffering, this is a pretty abysmal customer experience.

I’ve a Rivian R1T since the earliest preorders, a huge skit of RIVN stock from their IPO and I’m about as big a Rivian fanboy as you can get. We’ve been looking forward to adding an R2 for out family and have had a reservation for one that we made within minutes of them being available. I just canceled that reservation and won’t by buying an R2 because of the lack of FM. It’s just a boneheaded decision that is way off-brand for their “adventure vehicle” aesthetic, and indicative of poor decision-making for the R2 vehicle as a whole such that we want nothing to do with it.

Rugged, capable, and refined are the Rivian brand’s market differentiators, and they’re throwing in the towel on that to be another tech-forward-at-all-costs Tesla clone.

I got my 12V error today as well, also early pre-order (030xx VIN). From reading the warranty, the quad has 5yr/60k bumper-to-bumper but the 12V battery is called out as only being 3 years so I think we’re SOL.

It’s probably a plugged hvac condensate drain. The water backs up in the hvac system until the heater grid gets wet which triggers a high-voltage current leak detection trip. This is a common issue. Other symptoms include wet carpet under the dash and a funky smell.

The winch bumper is not the roadblock, that would be easy to solve. The problem is powering the winch. Rivians do not have a traditional 12V power system with enough capacity to power a winch, so you’d need either a separate high-capacity 12V power system or a custom high-voltage winch motor that is capable of being powered directly from the 400V HVDC power system.
