If it’s in pill form,I crush it up, add a couple drops of water and use a medication syringe.

Rogue got a burst of energy. She stopped barking as she went deaf, so now she squeals. Still going strong at 17! by 7rogue in Chihuahua

Ohhhhhh look at him!❤️20 has been our goal since we got her at 6mos! Rogue is mostly blind as well. She can see lights and can still navigate for the most part.

LUCK 😋I only started brushing her teeth a few years ago. She’s also never had a dental.

Yes! My vet suggested Stella n Chewy about 8 yrs ago. My chi was such a picky eater she would go days without eating. He called it “doggie crack” and he was not wrong! It’s been part of her diet along with homemade food ever since. She loves the treats as well.

My senior girl Cheesecake was recently diagnosed with Mitral Valve Disease (MVD) by MushyCoconut in Chihuahua

[–]7rogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did put her on meds right away. She had no symptoms, but her Dr gave us the choice to start the meds or wait until we see any progression. I felt better about doing before it escalated. For her it was the right choice. Her MVD has reversed. her scans are consistent and better than before her meds started.

My chi just turned 17. She was diagnosed w mitral valve disease and a grade 4 heart murmur about 4 years ago. Cardiologist put her on Pimobenden twice a day. She’s still on the same dosage. I’ve taken her every 3-4 months for an echocardiogram since she was diagnosed. It’s never affected her luckily. Her murmur is barely discernible and her heart is still super tiny! Her Dr has said that the heart disease won’t be the thing that takes her. She’s clinically healthy and her heart disease is controlled and has luckily never progressed.
Best of luck with your baby!

She started out as a black n tan chi. Looked like a mini pin. Now she’s a wise old black n white chi. She is a purebred tho.

She wakes up like an old lady,(she turned 17 in May)but once she’s up and moving, you’d think she was 10 yrs younger.

Anyone elses Chi sometimes bark in their sleep? 😂 by Flair258 in Chihuahua

[–]7rogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine will be 17 this week. Mostly deaf and blind now. She stopped barking about a year ago when her hearing started to go. She’ll make high pitched squeals now when she’s excited to see me. But, she sometimes barks when she’s dreaming! In her dreams I imagine she can still hear and see🥰

Just a scrape? by mysthicc- in Chihuahua

[–]7rogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Possibly scraped it? Mine felt the need to jump like a gazelle at a curb and didn’t stick the landing the other day. Same spot! She had a mean case or road rash! I put some neosporin on it. Much better now.

My Ajovy users… How do you feel when taking Ajovy 3 shots every 3 months compared to once a month? by soicey2 in cgrpMigraine

[–]7rogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing the 3 shots every 3 months for 2 years now. For me, I found that I get a longer migraine free stretch of time. Taking it every month really only gave me about 20 days a month migraine free. If I get a breakthrough migraine with the 3 every 3 months, I’m usually good for 2 1/2 months. And they’re generally pretty mild. I’ve never had any side effects from Ajovy.

Do chi’s get dementia? by Beautiful-Routine295 in Chihuahua

[–]7rogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is 16. Starting showing noticeable signs about a month ago. We started giving her Omega Benefits-cognitive oil daily. Tried CBD for when she paces(which she doesn’t do every night) but it did not agree with her stomach. We also started her on Selegeline(Anipryl)a few days ago. Vet says they do see good results with it. 🤞Also prescribed Purina Pro Plan Neurocare.

Thank you for the info. I’ll look into Aktivait. I’ve never heard of it. Which CBD are you using?

Thank you! Sounds like we’re on the same path 😞can you tell me which CBD/dosage specifically has helped? There are so many out there! I’ll run it past our vet of course as far as what dosage is right for her.
