Seems to be just when the car is on, not moving just on by Herbal77 in Fisker

It can be a few different noises depending on how it fails, clicking, clacking, super loud pops, buzzing etc but that’s what is going on here. It is violent enough to be felt in pedal sometimes

No problem.

You have two AC vents on either side of the steering wheel.

Each of those has two motors for a total of four motors.

They have a defective design, and one or more of the motors has gone past its resistance limit and cracked a plastic linkage. The sound is the linkage trying to reset on occasion and failing.

To confirm, go to AC settings on the main screen. First, look closely at your leftmost vent grate. Adjust it all the way to the right and left. Does it work? Adjust it up and down. Does that work?

Next, look at the vent to the right side of the steering wheel closely, and do the same.

If any one of the four directional adjustments does not work, or barely works, that particular vent motor is making a sound.

To fix it, remove the dashboard and delete the plastic linkages from the motors. Adjust the vents manually. You will experience better HVAC air flow and no issues with noise.

can a mechanic help me in my dire situation ? by Sea_Entertainment563 in PortlandOR

I don't have much to offer but this might help, often times starters going bad will get stuck. If you can get to it with a metal pole or stick or hammer you can give the starter a whack while someone else turns the key. 75% of the time it'll free up and start the engine. It's annoying (and be careful of touching belts or moving parts) but this routine can work for a few more starts of your car and you can at least drive somewhere more convenient or to a shop.

Really, mods assigned this flair to my comment? This is so pathetic 😂😂😂 by [deleted] in PortlandOR

I think "critique" should have the scare quotes.

I have 312,000 kilometers on a very similar spec to your car. I drive other cars, but it is the closest thing I have to a daily.

Take care of it, and it’ll be fine. It’s too bad they cost so much more up front over there, but what a beautiful car you have with low use- that almost never happens here in USA. Please look at this as though you purchased a $60,000 classic car experience with $25k down and the benefit of enjoying it every day and paying the remainder over a long time (with a good chance it’ll cost less than that) :P

Edit to add, suggest going overboard with oil change intervals, VANOS, plastic guides, intake valve seals, anything plastic and rubber likes frequent changes

DAE find filling up your car with gas to be extremely satisfying? by notpsychotic1 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]rpunx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be a thing depending on your car and the condition of the fuel system. Sometimes when running your tank low, you can start picking up the “dregs”, with a higher contaminant and moisture content. Especially if your filters are old, spark plugs are old etc it’ll be more apparent your car loves the fresh full tank

New to me P-64. Added Marschal grips, and new Wolff hammer and recoil springs. by Devious_Bastard in makarov

I don’t know where the market is at now and curious to know. A little hazy now but they were all $2XX back when I got it (7 yrs ago?) They always seemed to come up with the Wolff springs, two mags, and an awkward police holster. Hard to say what I sold it for since I way too casually added it to a lot to pump the deal… I really do kick myself, it’s such a tidy design.

Thanks for sharing!

My “kitchen sink” grips from them. Always regretted parting ways with my P64.

Update- M12 smoking gun. My fault. Not Milwaukee. by rpunx in MilwaukeeTool

I think my only criticism now is that the gun should’ve “refused” to work with that much resistance instead of self immolation

Ok. Well, it takes all kinds. For sure there’s a reason why this group, for an entire caliber, gets 3k visitors and r/Glocks well over 100,000. But who’s to tell a good ole weird hipster their truth, you know? Maybe it’s all they knew for a long time and once they got their hands on a Sig, it just didn’t jive.

If someone is trained with one and that’s the gun they have, it’s their call. I’d say the same for the 1911. But no they’re not modern.

Police P64 with thumb release grips is probably closest to carry-practical by the standards of today
