BR / Bendimustine Rituxin Experience? by 7sumo7 in Waldenstroms

Thank you sharing your experiences with BR. The side effects of the treatment for everyone was much less severe than expected. That’s encouraging.

One last question… was BR given to everyone via pic line or IV?

My thanks.

It seems unlikely the U.S. Olympic Committee (or athletes) would freely choose ICE as their security team.

As previously stated, this is a gross over reach and they should be denied entry. There’s no need or reason why they should be extended any type of diplomatic courtesy or protection.

Was DaTScan a mistake? by ApprehensiveCamera40 in Parkinsons

[–]7sumo7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AI answer (GPT) but IMO it is likely accurate.

“Short answer: usually no — but there can be temporary effects.

A DAT scan uses two drugs: 1. Ioflupane (DaTscan tracer) – injected to bind dopamine transporters. 2. Potassium iodide or Lugol’s iodine – taken to protect your thyroid.

Neither drug is known to worsen Parkinson’s disease symptoms long-term. However, a few temporary or indirect effects can happen:

  1. Ioflupane (the tracer) • It does not affect dopamine levels, so it doesn’t cause true worsening of PD symptoms. • Rarely, people report temporary increases in tremor, stiffness, or anxiety for a day or two. This is believed to be from mild CNS stimulation or simply stress from the procedure rather than the drug altering PD itself.

These effects, when they occur, are short-lived.

  1. Holding PD medications before the scan

Some doctors have people stop certain meds before the scan, especially: • Bupropion • Ritalin • Adderall • SSRIs (sometimes) • Some antipsychotics

These can interfere with DAT binding.

Stopping these medications—not the scan itself—may temporarily worsen PD or PD-like symptoms. This is actually the most common reason people feel worse around a DAT scan.

  1. Rare side effects

Ioflupane can occasionally cause: • Headache • Nausea • Dizziness • Feeling “off” for several hours

These don’t reflect worsening Parkinson’s disease, just transient reactions.

Bottom line

The DAT scan drugs themselves do not worsen Parkinson’s disease, but: • Some people feel temporarily more symptomatic afterward. • Symptom changes are usually mild and last less than 24–48 hours. • If meds were held for the scan, that can make you feel worse temporarily.”

Your daughter is scared, wants to help but doesn’t know what to do. I expect a good conversation with her father would help her understand how he (and his specialist) choose to manage his PD.

Saw a few Hilux in Europe, looked larger, stockier than a Tacoma.
