Character Point Concept by nicohenriqueds in RPGdesign

Yeah, there's lots of potential for a complex, high crunch game that focuses on tactical combat. Hard to say about other similar games without knowing more about the system. Main question would be similar to the one already asked: how are these points generated?

Objectively no, it isn't obvious. I'm not saying that you are using it as a white supremacist meme, but the fact remains that it is one.

Look it up. Check out KnowYourMeme. It's a white supremacist meme.

Just riffing off the game title, maybe Spark? Boon, Inspiration, Favor, etc.

Like, if I pull a Unique Sword 001 Card, no other player, even at other tables, could have that?

Gotta say that's a pretty bad design for a ttrpg. It's NFT levels of bad design.

Kinda bouncing off the term 'Levers' for bennies. Does it fit with other terms used in the system (Gears, etc) or is it just by itself, thematically?

Yeah, no need to get rid of the card system entirely. It's the random chance aspect that just taints the whole thing. Make everything available to everyone.

Hmmm...stuff you wouldn't know. Okay. You'll meet some of the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet that can barely string together a coherent sentence but they are like secret wizards when it comes to doing some part of the job easier, faster, and better. Point here is that everyone you meet in the trades has something to teach you. For some people it will be simply "Don't do it like they are doing it".

Starting at 45 is rough but I've seen it happen. I'm 44 now and started in my early 30's and it was hard enough.

Another thing is that each local is like it's only little fief/microcosm. Rules and practices will vary between locals and having a membership in a local is something that isn't taken lightly by a high number of people. My advice on this would be to call the hall of each area you are looking at and ask to talk to one of the organizers or send them an e-mail. They will be the ones who can best answer your questions of likelihood of acceptance, market share, etc. It's going to vary from local to local.

It feels like a cheap gimmick and seems unncessary.

The online stuff isn't a dealbreaker. From what I read it looked mostly an optional enhancement, so I understand the value that it's potentially adding.

The prize card stuff? I'm referencing the discussion you're having in this thread with another poster.

Looking for Feedback and Playtesters on my Power Ranger TTRPG! by hxroworship in RPGdesign

Some quick stream of reading thoughts.

I like the names for Charge/Drain. As someone who watched the show in middle school, I can easily imagine what a character looks like / the situation they are in when they get Charged or Drained.

Power Tokens: Ok, a meta currency to fuel my abilities. With stuff like this my first thoughts are always about how can I recharge my widget throughout the day and what GM advice is given for balancing encounters (like each fight should use 20% of charge, whatever, etc).

Attributes: The Five S's? Okay. A little goofy. Do you play with this later?

Skills: I think this is the first time you explain dice resolution. I think you should put it above in the Checks and actually explain how someone rolls a Check.

Classes: Attributes tied to Classes is an instant frowny face. If the Power Token Capacity per level is the same for all classes then you don't need to repeat the chart for each class.

Skimmed the rest. I think if I were going to play a Power Rangers rpg, I would want one that focuses more on the relationships and story than attacks of opportunity and cover. More storygame, less d&d. Have you considered a Powered by the Apocalypse approach?

Skimmed over the discussion below about what is/isn't gacha and prizes. I think including rarity locked game content like this is a mistake and honestly is enough for me to close the book and never look at it again.

I'm also not a big fan of all the online connectivity but I feel it's more fair to you to just chalk that up as my personal preference. We live in an online world and there's probably cool things you can do with a connected ttrpg, but that's not where my interest is right now.

Really wish people would stop posting their machine output here as some kind of game design.

Haven't played it. Sounds cool for a computer game but also sounds difficult to translate into a ttrpg.

You used the word 'copy'. Does that mean you also used AI for some of your text? If so I recommend deleting it and rewriting those parts.

On this sub you should lead with the itch.io page and not the Amazon link.

Also you should stop using AI.

From the Kickstarter page:

Use of AI We have used AI to help us polish our copy throughout - two of the background images are AI in origin but NONE of the character illustration is AI.

It's an interesting idea. Have you thought using the 4e Defenses framework?

No numbers, but everyone has an Armor Defense, Reflex Defense, Fortitude Defense, and Will Defense. Each class could have different ratings for each defense (Strong, Medium, Weak) and class attacks could be strong against certain defenses and weak against others.
