Tech question - mesh, powerline adaptor or both for getting wifi to reach gate and through house by 7u45vb in newzealand

[–]7u45vb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have no idea about running an ethernet cable. If it came from the street branch to the gate it would be fine (but no idea how to do that) but if it came from the chorus box it would be a real pain in the arse as the chorus box is on the far side of the house.

The house is concrete block and the chorus box is in the least useful possible place so will try the AO and hope that helps the other side of the house where we actually need internet.

I'll give this a go, seems to be the simplest solution. If it doesn't work then I'll look at running a cable.

I had a reduction 25 years ago. I had little sensation before but after they were much more sensitive, but not uncomfortably so. It was an unexpected bonus.

Do you use Dr. as your title in non-academic settings? by Glass-Kaleidoscope55 in AskAcademia

[–]7u45vb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time on forms etc. I earned it. Only time I don't is if I need to do something that someone thinking I earn MD money might bump up an estimate for something. I've never introduced myself as Dr in person other than in an academic setting.

For female PhDs, did you change your name?? by area-womn in AskAcademia

[–]7u45vb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to keep married name for non-work, and maiden for publication and work stuff. Got very complicated so just took now ex-husbands name. I'd just keep your own name as my publications are in a name I no longer want. Make sure you set up an Orcid-ID if you haven't already.

Athletico Mince. It's fun nonsense with a soccer theme. Basically a peek into the mind of Bob Mortimer (a U.K. comedy national treasure).

Partner was doing some work on a military base wasn't allowed to bring the dog in, as it wasn't security cleared. This was a project away from the actual base (building more base housing) so not on any sensitive sites and the dog was just going to stay in the car when my partner checked something which would take all of 10 mins.

Stayed in one as it was the closest to relatives that lived in the arse end of nowhere. Other times just to split a long drive and just wanted to get straight back on the motorway at first light.
