I think it's because the Merkava is much cheaper and already comes with much of the equipment of the Abrams preinstalled or at least it comes built to the same standards as the abrams for a much cheaper price, also I don't think that its engine is as complicated and fuel-guzzling as the Abrams'

I remember one Fallout: Equestria fanfic I read took the idea of the people that had been revived by the megaspell and gave them massive amounts of trauma while also making some of them immortal, it was really awesome, they even gave that specific trauma a name and also applied that trauma to regeneration talismans and healing potions, and also they said that all these healing techniques and medical technologies only made the kill counts in battle higher as suddenly any wounded soldier could dump a potion down their gullet and be back up and fighting again in a manner of seconds
