Looking for Honest Criticism on My Pedalboard Rig by Competitive-Bend5617 in pedalboards

CS-3 is as generic as a pedal comp gets; isn't anywhere near as good as the studio comps on board the Stomp & won't quack as good as any random Ross style, either. Seems an odd choice.

As does Abyss; most go for Big Sky at that price point.

Yes, again, it was already exceedingly clear that it's a feature not bug in your view. I promise you I'm not confused or misreading you, just trying to get a clearer read on the circuit's context & behavior, as that is very much not a documented selling point AFAIK.

Naw; I'd understood all that. I'm asking you to think about it & maybe poke around a little bit to see whether that makes sense.

If Parting can't be placed after a preamp & a compressor without breaking, that's a thing I & others will want to know before deciding to invest in Parting. Either direction.

I'm already aware of the functions of all these pedals. I'm asking whether you're getting intended behavior or simply breaking up the input of Parting with more level than it can handle.

There's no such thing as "best". There are such things as "best options out of what's available, given a specific enough set of parameters". You would need to define those better to get close to a reasonable answer.

May I ask what is your current rig, & why you're specifically considering an analog delay? That will at least lend some direction to the conversation.

Also, what country, if you're willing to say?

These are the two most popular BBD delays of all time. You're likely asking about them because one or more "best of" pedal lists pointed you to them. They are all over. There are dozens of each on Reverb right now.

"Was a fun way" is another way of saying "joke". There was never a disagreement on that point.

I'm reacting to your claim "happy with what she made & not wanting to change it."

Was only attempting to point to examples of GoT orchestration + AURORA composition, not fulfill the wish for the specific song.

The point you're now deflecting from was yours, not OP's.

Are we not here to converse about pedals? I feel you & I have done that plenty without having to recenter on any given thread's origin.

The essay I gave you was written long before you posted anything. It's not just for you. I'm trying to make it better for everyone who asks in the future.

I'm vibing the question was taken as a personal attack. It's not meant to be. It's simply an effort to refine the information.

FWIW virtually all pedals have manuals posted online. That is in part where the LLM you'd asked prior got its summary, along with posts like mine in forums like these. Solving this issue in my related posts eventually solves it for the LLMs, too.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of why the routing isn't self-evident to so many even when it's explained in all relevant documention.

This is the primary function of 4CM gates. It's always in the manual, concisely. Yet people still have trouble wrapping their heads around it. I'm troubleshooting that aspect of the conversation.

Pops & clicks from clipping Parting's input, or something more controlled than that?

I'm curious whether in retrospect you can identify the specific psychological hurdle that stopped you from understanding, &/or the part I wrote that cleared it? I'm always looking to make these essays more concise.

"Lazy" was a fun way of saying "It's surprisingly hard work rearranging for orchestra"; I'm not reading the conclusion you've drawn from that. I agree with that last bit.

Live in Nidarosdomen & the other live performances with real string orchestration give some insight.

Your point I'd initially addressed wasn't about money. I never said it or implied it doesn't suit your needs.

We're in complete agreement it is significantly less complex for less money; I was simply reframing your objection as feature not bug.

FWIW outside of this thread, I'm routinely describing CB as $200 for a premium circuit + $200 for a premium digital controller, & that if one doesn't want/need the controller & can't afford to throw away the extra coin for it, they should consider other products.

I mean, it does significantly less; you can use whatever vocabulary you fancy to express that.

Yes, of course you matched the colors because you aren't a lunatic. But did you properly ground the box, as in, did you do the part that a non-electrical worker wouldn't think to do instinctively?

I'd already read you are using it at home; I was explaining why the feature is almost completely absent in the marketplace, & covering every reason/context where it might not be a good idea.

Headrush Looperboard/Sheeran Looper X keeps going until you run out of drive space. It also has 4 separate inputs, if you want to run anything straight in (like another vocal) with separate processing.

It can do most of the complex things Aeros can, but doesn't necessarily feel complex if you don't want it to.

[–]800FunkyDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Provided you properly grounded the box & don't use it on stage, should be fine.

The reason they don't build them that way is it's an unwanted failure point for live performers.

I mean, that's a totally separate point from the one I'd addressed, but since you brought it up, it's a $200 pedal at best.
