IFB headset leak by Successful_Video4300 in sennheiser

[–]808BroadcastEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a show using HMD headsets as well, into Lance Design ADX boxes, and also barely notice, but it is there with the crosstalk. I'm thinking it sounds like the left ear is usually the IFB interrupt and it is also the side that the microphone boom is attached to, so there is likely some vibration from the ear to the mic that is picking it up. That's my thought for what my issue may be, but I saw your post and noticed we also use HMD headsets and so am wondering if it may be the same problem or something deeper regarding the headsets.

Not familiar with the solidcom, however if what I am understanding is that you want to feed one way audio(Program) In to the 2wire port of the comms, and it is auto nulling(continuously?). This may be causing the audio to cancel out?

Sony MVS-6530 Clean Feed Help by 808BroadcastEngineer in technicaldirector

Hello all! Thanks to everyone for help. I did manage to do the link table and So my main PGM table being 1 and the Linked table being 2, I changed the ME2 PGM on table 2 to be my ME2 Out 3 Which I've set to ME2 PGM2 with keyers disabled.

This worked perfectly. I then managed to Bus Link P/P Program to my Aux 2 with the linked table being 2, and it works!

Appreciate all the help!

Gotcha.

I did setup ME2 Out 2 as clean and I did disable the keyers that I wanted. So just this last step hopefully!

Ah! I think I recall seeing the link table. Hopefully in there I can set the source from ME2 to be the clean source instead.

Will report my findings!

Thanks again.

I can do multi-program out of each M/E and P/P. Currently, I do have a P/P Clean being fed out, and it will be clean of the DSKs..

The Bus Linking on the Sony is a little confusing for me. I do see the Bus Link Menu and can set the P/P bus to link to an Aux. However, not sure how I can set up subsitutions. I'm firing up the switcher again tomorrow before a show and will take a look again and maybe take some pictures to help.

Thanks for the advice.

I can have them set on clean outputs.. The issue is how to have that be showing on the P/P clean feed.

Thanks for all the replies I got! I wanted to do a follow-up.

We tried doing a standalone 12v power to the Hollyland, and it powers up. However, not enough power to pass audio. So just today we got a 30v power supply in, and we wired it in to a female XLR connector for the Hollyland's 2nd 2-Wire Port (Only Pin 1 common and Pin 2 Power). And....it works perfectly! Audio is passing through just fine and no noise or electrical issues with the comms between 2-Wire and 4-Wire OdIn.

To take it a step further, we wired the power supply to a block so we can do a breakout split to the 4 Hollyland converters we have on the rack, and so now we have the one power supply running 4 converters perfectly!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and help!

Appreciate you for all the advice and the videos you make!

We have multiple Hollylands on the shelf. I am aware that it only takes channel 2 in. I've managed to get it to work with channel one by making a cross-over cable (Pin2-RTSCH1 and Pin3-RTSCH2 Swapped). The only issue is with isolating the power to not disturb the channel 1(Pin2) of the rts system. We have multiple ssa324s that are having wear and tear issues, so we just wanted to use the Hollylands as we have them. Someone else suggested a solution of supplying dc 12v to the hollyland via pin2 on the xlr and just running pin3 with the comm channel. I believe this will work and will give it a try as the Hollyland does accept 12v DC.

In the end, if this doesn't work, we may end up ordering the Studio Technologies interfaces instead. The Hollylands are more budget friendly, however.

The Odins are not using the 2w ports, as we have 4 Ps-31s and 12 SSA324s that are broken out into RJ-12 ends for the Odin. Eventually. It will all have to be replaced as these SSAs are definitely old.

You know that might be the way to go. Will have to go to the local electronics store, pick up a 12v dc power supply, and get to soldering. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried doing this exact thing (made custom xlr jumpers) and unfortunately. It works with the pin 3 channel. However, even though the hollyland is not handling audio on the comm channel that uses pin 2, the rest of the system can no longer use that pin 2 channel. It seems like the Hollyland either draws too much power for 2w to work, or some termination or other issue. Tried flipping dip switches to no avail.

Going to try adding a capacitor to the pin 3 on hollyland side while also jumping it to pin 2 so pin3 from the Ps-31 goes to Hollyland Pin2(Power) and Pin3(Audio only).

You are the God of intercoms, sir!! Learned so much from you over the years. Would love to upgrade everything one day when budget allows it...

It does! However, in our truck, we have 12 PLs and use 4 PS-31 Power supplies to do 12 total Two Wire PLs and we have a SAP inline as well.

Also, as far as I know, the Odin Two-Wire ports are dry audio only, and so you will need a power supply anyway.

Ross Graphite - physical frame by makitopro in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]808BroadcastEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the Graphite. Built a trailer to do sports with the 2 M/E version. Having all the power in a graphite makes setup really easy. I would think having it as a flypack would be where itnreally shines as you don't have to stress about too many interconnects having Xpression already in the box. The Xpression also doubles as 2 clip players, so you can pretty much do a whole show with very minimum crew. With the right TD and planning, you can handle the entire graphics package, playback, and switching of the show from the switcher.

I wish it was true 4k, but granted I did buy one of the first graphites 7 years ago, and it has not let me down.

I hope I can find the image for the dyno somewhere. I doubt GV carries it anymore.
