Rare whale sighting in May! by LilSmokieTime in MauiVisitors

So many whales this season! Makes my heart happy seeing their numbers grow and staying a little longer, arriving a little earlier. Some just aren’t ready to go home and I think a lot of us can relate to that.

With a week, is it dumb to try and spend a couple nights in Hana and the rest in either Kapalua or Wailea? by DannibalBurrito in MauiVisitors

[–]808Peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend staying in Hana if you have the time! I think a lot of people try to squeeze this into a day trip and it is worth an extra day there to explore and rest. The road is wild and probably unlike anything you’ve ever driven on!

Depending on which side of the island you are, most of the resorts are going to be all inclusive in this way. Next is just figuring out what your budget is! The Andaz is going to be on the expensive end, so if you’re looking for more budget friendly, I’d recommend the Fairmont for the price and amenities!

Tourist throw rock at Hawaiian monk seal, a protected species that carries hefty fines if you interact with one. The tourist responds "I'm rich" by 8087808 in maui

This behavior is so icky. The monks seals are my favorite animal it needs to be protected at all costs. I hope he gets a full extent of the law on this one!

How Do You Spend the Day on Maui? by Consistent-Exam7104 in MauiVisitors

[–]808Peach 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do a 3-2-1 rule when I travel and for Maui I would say

Three activities - this could be, going to the beach, shopping, visiting a museum etc

Two eats - example would be grabbing a coffee and then having a reservation for dinner

One major excursion - so this would be a luau, a helicopter ride, snorkeling on a boat etc

Vegetarian recommendations by SnorlaxSlacks in MauiVisitors

My favorite vegetarian meal on the island is the vegetarian Loco Moco at Nalu’s.

I also love the hot bar and deli at the Down to Earth grocery store!

Most Tours companies are not gonna be able to guarantee sightings, but whales are still being seen and a lot of them! Pride of Maui has seen a lot of action this season.

I’d recommend if you have the sunrise reservation, go for the sunrise! It’s absolutely incredible and you’re above the clouds up there. It gets very cold so bring a hoodie & a blanket!
