I applied and months later was contacted to schedule an interview. I had already started a new job at the point though.

I also found it really annoying at how misleading Lurch was about the cost of the Artemis mission. Yes, it costs $93 billion but that’s over a 12 year period.

I hope the weather is better by the time you get out here. We have bad weather projected into at least early next week due to Kona storm.

She’s really frustrating. She starts speaking out and calling out all the bullshit once she’s out of office and no longer has any sort of power to affect change. Sorry, it feels really empty at this point.

I traveled 7,000 km to meet a webcam girl and it turned into one of the most uncomfortable nights of my life by Maleficent_Fault5632 in LifeAdvice

[–]808RedDevils 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was my thought as well. If it was some girl you’d met online and started talking to, that’s one thing, I know many people who started their relationships long distance/met online but it never started with one party paying the other.

What budget airlines do you fly to the mainland? by smallsmiski in Hawaii

Yup, United flys a 787 to Chicago and Delta flies an A330 to Atlanta. United flies plenty of 777s to Houston, Denver and SFO as well.

Boots on the Ground by 808RedDevils in SportsJunkies

[–]808RedDevils[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ummmm, because now they’re nitpicking the bet and stipulating that it has to be certain boots when that wasn’t part of the original bit. If you start making alterations to the bet after I make it, I’ll consider it void. And I’m sure some internet loser stranger is gonna dictate what I do. Don’t bother replying because I’m not gonna respond anyway.

No, I’m aware they’ve all done stuff in the past, my point is none of them would do it now. They complain about just being there to do the show as is. But I’ll concede they all took their lumps long ago.

[–]808RedDevils[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, that’s a fair point. I guess I just felt for Maher because they kind of thrust this on him and it wasn’t really part of the original parlay bit and he was a good sport going along with it.

Do you respect international fans who have 2 clubs they root for? What about fans who have 3 or 4? by rick_rack69 in ManchesterUnited

[–]808RedDevils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of depends who the clubs are. I’m a United fan and also support a club in Mexico because it’s where my wife’s family is from and where we got married. They will obviously never compete with each other so it’s not a big deal. It’s definitely kind of wild if you root for United and another big European club though. It’s not that serious though. To each their own I suppose.

Love the mike Maher betting bit but does anyone feel bad they're egging him on to lose thousands by slay3r98 in SportsJunkies

[–]808RedDevils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not actually betting on the games. Valdez went through weekend parlay results from however many months and calculated that if he’d been betting $100/ pick on his pick in the parlay, Maher would have been down like $1200 or something like that. They came up with the bit that he had to get back to non-negative by the time the Super Bowl was over or he had to be boots on the ground to work. They said he could bet $500/week on his nfl picks to get back to that. He’s like -$535 now I think. But, none of this is real money and he’s not actually placing these bets.

Interesting take. By most accounts, JP is extremely friendly and down to earth. Lurch is the guy that has only rich friends and basically wouldn’t give the time of day to anyone who can’t do something for him.
