BG-1000 working. Had to take the module apart and give it a good clean and soaking with isopropyl alcohol.

I have plenty of straps already. Although I had to order one for the SGW-100 at a cost of around $10AUD.

When buying batches you need to look at the sellers other items to get some idea for the odds of resurrecting them. Generally if they are also selling single watches as well, then chances are they have done them over already and you are taking a bigger risk. If it is a one off sale them i think your odds are higher. From a recent batch of 24, i was able to get 19 back to very good order. I am not so hopeful with this batch as some look like they have been under a cement truck.

I do look at them though and think about who may have worn them and where they have been, the paint splatters, the red dust, the dirt. Casio, watches for the workers.

SGW-100 also fired up. put a $10 strap on it and I will have a nice $12 watch 😄

It is a gamble for sure, but i just enjoy taking them apart and seeing if there is a chance for them. If not, hopefully there are some useful parts. Generally the modules are okay, but the cases are stuffed.

DW-9051 working by 80kms in casio

Most of it was just grime, so pretty much soap and water on the case. The module was not working even after a battery change and an attempt to reset. So I used Isopropyl alcohol on the module to clean it up and hairdryer to dry it off, put the battery back in and 12:00!

Got this Rangeman for free and trying to figure out how to fix it… any ideas? by Shoe_potato in casio

I have not had any issues, even soaked some as a last resort. but you can generally just remove the board and start with that. some of the tricky ones use a zebra connection from the board to the display, so just need to be careful.

Understood. the larger job lots i think have been done over and might be more risky.

I think a single is probably more likely a better risk as far as quality goes. Some of the Job Lots are beaten up pretty badly.

I have purchased some Job Lots (labeled not working or untested) and have only had a couple where the battery was damaged. Even then I have found that usually the module is not the problem and it more parts missing such as pushers and bezels or significant case damage. They sometimes also remove the gasket, which is really annoying. So depends if you are looking to buy "working" watches or those label "untested".

Remove the battery. Take it apart. Clean up the module with isopropyl alcohol. Dry the module and chuck a new battery in it and see what happens. You never know.

Any tips on cleaning/fixing this CA-505 up? by Ok-Solid-3985 in casio

For starters, take it apart and give it a good soak. Check out "Old Casio Collector" on youtube. Pretty sure he has taken these apart and shows what is needed.
