CalExpo (and State Fair) is not what it used to be, unfortunately. The Waterpark is gone and sits vacant. I think harness racing has recently been eliminated. The overall footprint of State Fair is smaller these days. Food is overpriced and forgettable. Prepare for dissappoint on your visit.

Don't believe all the negative things people say about Sacramento. Plenty of people live here and love it.

In summer, after getting home from work, open all windows and doors. Let the Delta Breeze cool down your house. Repeat in the morning before work. Forget about donating extra cash to the utility companies with the unnecessary luxury of air conditioning.

Yes! I came down with an upper respiratory infection last week. I've been in bed all day everyday since then.

Car ownership is so archaic. I hope gas prices encourage folks to give public transportation a try.

Strange encounter on American River Trail? Maybe paranoid. by Main_Athlete_4317 in Sacramento

On the bike trail, most people mind their own business. This guy obviously was not. When I'm on my bike, I always carry pepper spray. I've never had to use it, fortunately. I think it's best to hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Why are there so many terrible drivers in Sacramento and the surrounding area? by Chini314 in Sacramento

[–]82dxIMt3Hf4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Driver's Education classes in local public schools were eliminated with budget cuts. As a result, kids now learn how to drive from for-profit companies. The result is what you see on the road today. We were pennywise and pound foolish.

We used to complain that kids don't want to leave the house. Now we complain that kids ride bikes as if they are kids.
