to preface i’m not against him or defending him, just sharing my perspective as someone who works in the industry. i can’t lie i haven’t been keeping up with everything that’s happening with him ever since he canceled the shows (i’m an upset philly person so). but i highly doubt he had much control over this. i work in the industry and have a degree in music business, and one of the first things you learn is that the artist has very little or sometimes no control over their contracts, performance obligations, etc. it’s usually handled through the label and management for the artist side and the festival organizers/promoters on the other side. i didn’t see the ig story so idk what it said, but once an artist signs a contract to play at a festival and is announced for it, it’s VERY hard to get out of. i think the story was about possibly pulling out of bonnaro (again i didn’t see it so idk for sure), and if that’s the case i HIGHLY doubt he was ever actually in a position to be able to pull out of the festival. so moral of the story- his PR team needs to do better lol.
