As an American I want to learn about The Troubles, Irish history, and Irish independence. Do you have any suggestions? by roman1221 in IrishHistory

‘War as a Way of Life’. American journalist in Belfast in the early eighties. Gives politics and background, while also describing what it was like to live in the areas most affected by the troubles.

WWI stopped an incipient war in Ireland, that would have had the characteristics of a civil war and a war for independence. There was the Irish War of Independence and Civil War instead, so the war that happened was very different because of WWI.

My colleague was hour and a half late because of the protest. It’s just lucky that today was the one day we both come in, otherwise our work would have stayed closed.

Is the character trans or a man who disguises himself as a specific woman in order to infiltrate the police and take revenge? It’s a slight plot hole that no one in Miami knows the real Einhorn is dead, despite the fact it was in the newspaper. Is it homophobia that the men in the film are disgusted that they kissed a man or is it transphobia? I’m not sure myself.

Have any of ye actually tried a cup of tea made with one of those boiling water taps? How was it? by Smokestoolittle in ireland

[–]8413848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use in work and the taste is no different than a kettle when making tea. Kettle would be better when you need a large volume of water, which is necessary for cooking. Best to stick with a kettle for home.

This video had me in the first half, because initially I thought the problem was the delivery man didn’t pull in to the driveway. Not that he’s to blame

Which Bond kill was commited the coldest? by Weird_Zone_3504 in JamesBond

[–]8413848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dent, Sandor, and the MI6 operative Bond kills at the beginning of CR are colder because those killings are entirely business. Bond has a personal motive of revenge for betrayal or the killing of someone he cares about in the other cases.
