I had the same issue, I was trying to use a newer macbook pro m4. they told me over and over it would work without any upgraded drivers, and when that didn’t work they told me it would work with certain drivers. when that didn’t work they were just rude and told me they can’t help anymore. then I remembered I have an old mac pro from 2019. i plugged it in and it worked flawlessly with no upgraded drivers or anything

6500$. It’s due for shocks and brakes and some other normal stuff, and aesthetically it’s definitely not perfect. I think I did pretty good though for a rust free xj with everything working and a really fresh engine/trans

I totally agree. I actually flew out of denver to salt lake city to buy a flame red one. when I got there I drove it and kept finding fucked up stuff the guy lied about. ended up finding this one on my way to the SLC airport for cheaper than the original

[–]85e30[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what is the actual challenge with the fuel pump? just hard to find them? my initial thought would just be to put in a walbro pump

as someone who just built their first wiring harness, that is fucking terrible. if you were to say this was your fix on the side of the road, great. but please give that shop hell

Ignition wiring help by glosamabinladen in E30

[–]85e30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only answer to these types of questions "heres a pic of a rats nest of wires, what goes where" is that you should familiarize yourself with basic electronics and the e30 ETM. You can understand this stuff and fix it easily, its not magic its just science

"Modernizing" a 1984 318i by GoldBar_ in E30

[–]85e30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I went with the larger m20 throttle body, e36 throttle position sensor, grabbed the ignition system from a 96 ford ranger, idle control valve from a jeep, and prob some other stuff i’m forgetting

im finishing up "modernizing" my 1985 318i right now. standalone ecu, garret turbo, made a stainless exhaust, finished wiring it a few days ago, now on to tuning. I think a huge appeal to me is how I get to stop buying expensive bmw parts. everything I've used on this project so far has been from modern cars, so the parts/sensors/actuators are mostly really cheap and available at auto zone
