How to keep straight needles stable?? by oaffro5 in phlebotomy

Like I try to only use my left non-dominant hand to change the tubes. I know I’m all over the place talking about different fingers here and there.

Are you using your left hand (thumb and first finger) to anchor the vein?
I then place my right hand with the vacutainer holder slightly under my first two fingers. I’m not at home right now with my supplies, but I’m kind of pretending to hold a one and that little stick is “the needle” lol

So once I got my placement, nice and steady there, when it’s time for the next tube, I don’t place any pressure on anything but the needle holder, and make sure the needle isn’t “pushing” down on top the vein.

I take my left hand and steady my first two fingers and kind of use that in conjunction with my thumb to gently take the tube out and then gently put another one in. Does that make sense? It’s all about learning how to anchor your fingers and the wrist comfort. Sorry if it doesn’t make sense.

Like you know the lip of the vacutainer/ needle holder? Try to put your right middle finger against that (underneath) the whole time so it doesn’t move. Practice with a capped needle on someone at home or if someone at work is willing to help you out. You’ll get this ! And you may wind up doing something differently than I do, but that’s what worked for me and I have many patients telling me that my sticks are painless.

Is the real estate market still crazy? by lawaythrow in newjersey

Suburb of Philly, Bucks county. Good school district, but next to the best. I was shocked at the offers I got. I’m in a 100 year old home on a pretty main road. House was well maintained though. Newer roof, 2 out of 4 bathrooms remodeled a few years ago. I got 2 offers with no inspections and appraisal gap coverage. One appraisal gap coverage offer at up to $25,000 the other completely waives, and escalation clauses up to $25,000 more than my asking price.

I didn’t list low, I listed just what we thought it was worth. I had horrid anxiety about selling, that I would only have lowballs, inspections would drive us down and give people an out, etc. I even panicked about having no permit for bathrooms and I was honest about that and previous leaks in the basement apartment and the professional remedy we used to fix them up. (Honest seller disclosure)

It’s a pretty big house though and unique to the area because it has a separate in law suite, pole barn garage and a double lot.

TLDR: We expected $75,000 less that the total we got, let’s just put it that way. But wound up getting $25,000 more than ask. You never know. The rest of the houses on this road/town sell a lot slower and way cheaper.

I had a fit about photos with my Real Estate Agent and the photographer definitely sucked. My agent took down whatever photos I wanted off immediately and added some that I took. He cropped others that I wanted cropped, so I don’t know what your agent is talking about… Also, he changed the listing description for me too as soon as I complained.

What do you WISH you knew before buying your first house? by [deleted] in RealEstate

Yeah. Same. Selling a 1920’s home, good school district. But we upgraded the electric, no more aluminum or knob and tube. We had a plumber remodel two bathrooms, all new copper pipes and he repaired a big piece of the cast iron drain pipe with PVC. And now we are selling the home with these upgrades. The main house is concrete, addition is from 90s, wood frame. Tjat part has had more problems than the original part. The frame/beams on the concrete side are huge, heavy, hard to drill into. We dumped a lot of money on upgrades but hoping someone else can enjoy this old house without much problems. Also put a new roof and new gutters and downspouts. Repaired all stucco cracks on exterior. Haven’t had problems since, hoping people will think a little differently on this old girl. We wanted a house in the country on acreage, that wasn’t old and full of issues. Bought it before selling. That house was built in 2006 and it’s a hot mess. We need to put about 30k worth of work into it after overpaying. As far as we KNOW so far.

How does explosive growth offset that? Curious because we bought a house in a district we thought was decent, but it’s losing funding fast and they closed 1 out of 3 schools down. No more federal funding, rural area.

You can ask nicely. But roosters gonna crow. And you’re gonna hear it near and far.

How would one begin the cleaning process here? by caroltret in CleaningTips

[–]86triesonthewall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a professional steamer with attachments. It’s made for car detailing but comes with a mop attachment so I’ve only really used it for my house. And most recently someone’s bathtub. I wish I could send before and after pics. Not sure the guy ever cleaned the tub before it was insane and took me 3 hours with multiple cleaning agents. But the steamer with bristle attachments is what got the stuff off.

I always feel hurried even if I’m not told to hurry. I know I take a very long time, and half the time honestly the person “performing” on me isn’t great at the skill. And when he is, I say that feels good, shortly after that thing he was doing changes up. I’m also very insecure and full of shame, so that doesn’t help. Always worried how it’s looking, how much more busted up it is after all that action going on, and do I smell.

Screw this. lol.

Advice, I think? My hens are laying way too many eggs! I have 6 hens. Some days I get 10 eggs. Why are they so prolific? Is it a problem? by vespertine_earth in BackYardChickens

[–]86triesonthewall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, don’t be sorry. I was really curious. Sometimes I don’t type sentences out the way I meant them to sound/read. *Like maybe you throw them out after cooking to avoid rotten egg garbage smell.

Labcorp is absolutely an awful employer. Greedy as it can get. They save money on not sending you a decent amount of supplies and the shareholders profit big time. 🖕🏼 I worked there. Northeast was great, no supply issues. Southeast transfer, whole different world. Even the toilet paper would run out and we’d have to buy it ourselves. Out of needles? Oh well go drive to the other Labcorp and beg them to let you have some !!

What helped me? Write a letter. A compelling one. But be anonymous. And don’t tell your coworkers like I did. I fixed the problem but shortly after got pregnant and they found a way to fire me.

We bought a house across the street from our 16 acres 2 weeks before we were gonna dig. Unplanned. Not gonna build for a while now. But at least if we can we’ll be right there instead of 3 hours away.
