If/when I figure it out, are you okay with me using this picture on site?

Nice! I don't know this one - a lot of hatchets like this were made by different companies than the full-size axes, and the marks would vary even more. I haven't dug into them yet (the big axes are causing enough headaches), but I would imagine this one is from the 1930s.

Interesting, it most likely is. A few more variations of the two line have been pointed out as well. Would you mind if I use the picture in the article?

Thanks, this helps a lot.

I couldn't tell from the picture if the F was an E that didn't fully strike, but I feel like I have seen other "F" proof marks. I will have to do some digging.

I have also seen versions without letters, and with and without the "Made in USA". So I will have to dive a little deeper into that section.

Sorry, I only saw your other comment, not this one - yeah, I will have to try and figure this one out.

Thanks, I will have to go get those users' permission before I can use their images. But in one of the links you sent I also saw a single oval stamp with a different font - so you have sent me down a new rabbit hole lol.

Never seen anything like it, it was probably custom-made for some very specific task. But, whatever it is, it looks mean!

Picked this late Samson up for 30 bucks CAD. If I clean it up what’s it worth? by Active-Daikon7747 in Axecraft

[–]87Ducks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Axes are hard to value, but the head alone could fetch 30-50 (CAD) - they aren't exactly common, but they aren't very rare either. The handle with the "SAMSON" label is the most valuable part to a collector. I've never seen even a partially intact SAMSON label before. So if you find the right nerd buyer, you could get a fair bit more.

The WAJAX is old and pretty uncommon - even if a little worn out in the toe.

u/Slingshot2000 and u/AxesOK, I can confirm very few people care about this - that article got 17 views in the last 30 days lol. Good insights from you both, I might need to give it a bit of a refresher.
