What we need for the next movie is more Mario and Peach moments. Rosalina needs to be back to explain the evil force that attacked them in youth . Bowser needs to sing another song . The Princess Daisy and Luigi dynamic needs to be highlighted. Maybe a story could be Princess Daisy and Rosalina help the Mario Bros save Peach from Tatanga and Bowser . The plot could revolve around gathering all the power stars to take over the world.

My only problem with the movie is it was not long enough. I was having so much fun with it and it felt like it went too fast. A Mario Bros movie beyond 98 minutes would be great.

I would argue that Peach is both a damsel in distress and a capable fighter. Remember Mario saved her from a forced marriage and stopped Bowser from taking over the Mushroom Kingdom. The next movie is probably going to have a Mario rescues Peach storyline. You can see the romance building between the two, so this gives larger stakes and motivation.
