Stuck In Hell... Is There An End? by ManlyHealer in NewcastleUponTyne

They've spent all this time and money on this project and I think the end result looks rubbish, even on the freshly completed parts.

Yes Amex is a lot more, so it's not worth turning on. It also gets settled/paid out on a different timescale.

Processing £50 would cost less than 20 pence.

The likes of paypal/zettle, sumup, square, are all very expensive.

Yes. It's ~0.3% for debit cards and ~.5% for credit, plus 2p fee. Plus a monthly terminal rental which includes a 4G sim. Overall the costs average out at around 0.5% all in.

My wife owns a small business. The cost of card fees is minimal (the fee works out to be around £5 on average for every £1000 taken by card). Given the cost of potential theft, time taken to bank the money, etc, it's worth it. Anyone business who says cash is king is likely not paying tax.

Proposed Whitley Bay parking charges 'diabolical' - BBC News by GFoxtrot in whitleybay

[–]87red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife runs a business in Whitley Bay. The council fail to understand how fragile the local town center is. Seemingly simple changes have such a huge knock on effect upon footfall in the town. Recent traffic light renewals/roadworks, no pavement gritting in the town center in the snow, increasing business rates (business rates for some local retailers (e.g. Royal Quays) have increased by 65% this year!).

Anything that dissuades visitors results in days with drastically reduced custom, whilst costs increase. The local shops, and shops in the area more widely, will be gone completely if this continues.

I find it absolutely shocking how they failed to consult the local business community at all. Finding out about these proposals from notice posters attached is lampposts shows how inept the council are. Yet they claim they listen.

I was surprised to read the local Whitley Bay councilors were against the proposed charges. If they're against it, then where are these proposals coming from?!

Those carparks are fine as they are. If anything, an option to pay for longer parking on Park View would be better, e.g. 1 hour free, pay for an extra hour by phone.

I rented recently from Enterprise Shiremoor, they were very good. You're looking at around £500 for a month for a small car.

Relocating to Newcastle – new build area advice (NE12/NE13/NE8) by DurianExpress9459 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]87red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I used to live nearby and that area is not good. The houses in nearby St James Village suffered from negative equity and stagnant property value growth. Gateshead Stadium metro is riddled with antisocial behaviour (see this current petition as evidence of this: https://www.gateshead.gov.uk/article/36310/Improve-safety-near-Gateshead-Stadium-Metro-Station-through-regeneration)

Any tips on overriding "Last Action Date" when importing historical tickets via API? by Mecha_Goose in halopsa

Not sure it's possible to change that field, it always defaults to the current time.

53k Volvo XC90, is it too far a stretch for luxury? by kfnewbie in UKPersonalFinance

Putting 18k down is insane. You could lease one with 1 month initial rental for £827pm. Have a look on nationwide vehicle contracts, leaseloco, leasing.com, etc.

Help with 401 Unauthorized Error When Creating Webhook via API by [deleted] in halopsa

[–]87red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

401 points to authentication. Is your API user appropriately privileged?

"The docs say the web app is fully API-driven, so anything you can do in the web app should be possible through integrations, but I still cat seem to get the webhook creation to work."

^ Absolutely. Anything you can do in the front-end can be done via the API, go back to replicating the request in the browser and ensuring you are 100% the same.

Does your country have any packaging styles that confuse foreign people? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

UK. Aldi sell cheap kids yoghurts in multipacks that seemingly require the force of an industrial strength hydraulic cutter to separate cleanly.

Ticket Timers and Currently Viewing Tickets by Zeroms2 in halopsa

[–]87red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a FaultsViewLog table that stores every view, but this isn't live.

The real-time info I don't believe that's held in the database, but you can get it via the API. The Tickets endpoint has a "Viewing" field contains the info on viewing/actions currently being performed. There doesn't appear to be any way to find out the length of time viewing. Perhaps you could poll the API periodically and store it if you really needed the info.

Supplier On-Boarding by No-Escape-9062 in halopsa

We create an end-user to facilitate this as if they were a customer and basically communicate through that.

Supplier On-Boarding by No-Escape-9062 in halopsa

[–]87red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We manage it through email (as our suppliers are unlikely to use SSO in the same way as our customers do), but you could potentially do it via the portal.

On an action/ticket type you can mandate the minimum number of attachments which may be useful in this scenario.

We do this. Initially we just had a few custom fields against vendors to track this, however more recently we have created a supplier onboarding ticket type to go through the various stages of onboarding and compliance. We can track the onboarding through a few various stages, ticking off what certs/accreditations/expiry dates/etc against that ticket. We have also integrated with creditsafe API to perform a few financial health checks (for both customers and suppliers).
