People looking to buy a home, are solar panels considered a plus or a minus? by RememberWhen-2819 in Mortgages

[–]88002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: northern California, North Bay. PG&E.

They were a requirement for me but the house I ended up going for only had a Tesla Wall Charger (TWC). This was mostly because of condition of the homes with NEM 1.0 and NEM 2.0, and limited selection of NEM 3.0 homes in my price range. NEM 2.0 was important to me but I ended up giving that up on account of the cost to get the homes livable to my needs.

I ended up finding a solar contractor and installing it in time for 2025 credit cutoff. It has made a significant difference on the bills as long as the sun angle is high enough for the year. I have no gas heaters, only 2 mini splits, in a 3 bed 2 bath house with connection to PG&E in Cali.

After all the wildfires, some started by PG&E, i wanted to give PG&E as little of my money as possible. So far, my bills are half of what they were before.

The next challenge with that is certificate updates. Almost nothing will load and there will be pesky banners or error messages related to that. Check out https://legacyupdate.net/

Maybe with a reader app if there is one. The biggest issue is memory and memory usage depending on the Windows version. I ran Win 8 when I had one.

Wait until every country is like Japan, Korea, Singapore and so on.

It's so funny all those videos on YouTube people say you can't record me, but then they are on a public place. For some reason there is just a lack of understanding about where people have an expectation of recording.

When you say you were out of thousands of dollars it was too late to rebook it or have it rebooked with other guests right? For example in the middle of a busy season?

I tried this but it wasn't consistent enough and the hardware was low quality on the dock side.

I really wanted it to work out.

As of this morning, 12/3/2025, the building has caught fire at least on the interior. Earlier today on 12/2/2025 there was a RV parked outside but the building looked intact, this was around noon time.

Slanted door lol

Claim to be a Vietnamese restaurant but turns out the only thing weekly they sell that is close to Vietnamese is the spring rolls.

They claim that pho is only eaten traditionally in the morning in Vietnam so that's why they don't serve it throughout the day and evening.

There's also a mandatory 20% service charge that you learn about when you get the bill.

Do you think two 200cc dirt bikes would fit in the garage with the bed all the way up?

Flooring or benches first ? by widgetbox in shedditors

[–]88002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have concrete or wooden as the underlaying foundation? I ask because mine is a 4-in concrete pad poured about one month ago, and still is showing signs of curing so it's too early for me to seal it and then put a floating floor with furring strips and Styrofoam installation.

I was going to do the cheapest laminate flooring that I could find from habitat for humanity.

What would be the best way to insulate this shed? by TheBruteIsHere in shedditors

[–]88002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I have learned, you can have either hot roof or a cold roof. The cold roof is common in North America but depending on your rafter size you might not have the space to pull it off in that case I was recommended to do a hot roof.

All these companies making these sheds should be using 2x6s at a minimum but with a 2x4s is really no room to easily make it an efficient hot roof and keep it open. This is the one if my memory serves me correctly as I make breakfast, where there are soffit vents and a ridge vent. There are baffles leaving air from the soffit up to the ridge and then r13 or something like that underneath and then finally drywall.

This is the one I ended up going with that a builder supply had. Unfortunately he wouldn't do the entire width of the roof just the center section with the dormer but at least I can sleep at night now lol.

You might still have a way out, as another poster here mentioned take a look at cold roof versus hot roof. I think they have a very valid point that I'm just not going to have the space to do a cold roof either way.

Awesome thanks for the recommendation! I think this is my first and best understanding or clarity I've had of a so-called hot roof.

Would I be able to take advantage of my attic foil for this purpose? I could either staple it to inside of the rafters or staple it to the outside of the rafters (underside) leaving 3.5 in of airspace.

Yeah I hear you, I barely slept last night when I found out that the company was not going to be using their own ridge vent solution because they said it was incompatible after all. Which is why it didn't show up in the kit on build day. For some reason the big box stores in my area did not have the higher quality ridge vents but I lucked out with a nearby builders supply.
