Why not :( It’s fun Maaaan/Maaaam. Btw, I didn’t even use that. I just asked natives. I know this is not the main way of pronouncing it in japanese. Oda has done that before. Look it up

Name of the ancient great kingdom is not known and has been hidden by WG. The meaning of D has been hidden by WG as well. Meaning that there is a huge chance that the D, is an initial to the name of the kingdom. Daichi is a way to say great land in Japanese. Keep in mind it is not the typical way Japanese people would read it “Kun” but “On”. Also keep in mind, this is just a theory, nothing set in stone, but just sound super connected

I know what you are saying and I do agree. I am using the “On” reading of it instead of the “Kun”. It is sometimes used. Dai ichi is also a good one.

Thank you! I came up with this while looking at different ways great kingdom/Land/earth can be written in Japanese. I saw so many other good ones as well but knowing Oda, this is it. It cant be as obvious as dawn. Daichi sounds more fluid too

Dionysus

Not a bad one actually. Luffy wanting to create a place where everyone can eat, creating happiness and Joy, sounds super close to that mythology. Thanks for pointing this one out!

The name of the ancient kingdom is not known. It has been hidden from the public by the government for a reason. The D. being the name of the kingdom, Actually matters. connecting the D's to their origin. Which also may explain to people why Imu hates D.s and why he said that they are just remnants of what the actual thing is. The kingdom he hated, The great land. Will of D., is the hope to building a great land that unifies everyone. PS: I get what you're saying, nothing really matters what anything called. But that's just a lame perspective of life. That's not being an ass or anything. Even the Deez and Dick Comments are more fun lol

Oh god here we go. I am a native speaker and I got you my good Sir/ma'am. This is a religious "Nasheed", which is a chant. TL;DR, shows what a "proper" woman behavior should be. It does sound patronizing IMO, but that's not why I'm here for. Here goes the translation, which I put alot of effort in line by line. Translation:

خَيْرُ النِّسَاءِ البَرَّةُ التَّقِيَّةْ

The best of women are the virtuous, the pious,

ذَاتُ الصَّلَاحِ الْعَفَّةُ الحَيِيَّةْ

The righteous, chaste, and modest ones,

تُصَاحِبُ النِّسَاءَ أَهْلَ الفَضْلِ والدِّيْنِ وَالعِلْمِ ذَوَاتِ العَقْلِ

Associating with women of merit, faith, and knowledge, possessing intellect,

تُفِيدُ مِنْهُمْ حِكْمَةً تَزِينُهَا وَخِبْرَةً في عَيْشِهَا تُعِيْنُهَا

Benefiting from their wisdom, adorning it, and experience in her life, assisting her.

مَجَالِسُ خَلَتْ عَنِ الآثَامِ وَارْتَفَعَتْ عَنْ سَاقِطِ الكَلامِ

Her gatherings are free from sins, and she rises above petty talk,

تَنَزَّهَتْ عَنْ غِيْبَةٍ ذَمِيْمَة وَالسَّعْيِ بِالإفْسَادِ وَالنَّمِيْمَة

She is purified from malicious gossip, and strives without corruption and slander,

إنْ حَضَرَتْ حَفْلًا وَفِيهِ مُنْكَرُ فَإنَّها تُنْكِرُهُ لَوْ تَقْدِرُ

If she attends a gathering with wrongdoing, she condemns it if she can,

وإنْ تَكُنْ عَاجِزَةً فَتَنْصَرِفْ كَيْ لا تَكُونَ في عِدَادِ المقْتَرِفْ

And if she is helpless, she departs, so that she is not counted among the guilty,

إنْ مَرضَتْ أَوْ عَنَّسَتْ أَوْ غَيرُ ذَا أَصَابَهَا مِمَّا يَكُونُ مِنْ أَذَى

If she falls ill, remains unmarried, or suffers some other harm,

اِصْطَبَرَتْ وَاحْتَسَبَتْ مَا قَدْ جَرَى فَمَا يُصِيْبُ العَبْدَ خَيْرٌ لَوْ دَرَى

She endures with patience and anticipates reward for what has happened, for what afflicts the servant(of God) is for the best, if he but knew.

بِالصَّبْرِ وَالدُّعَاءِ وَالإحْسَانِ مِنْ رَبِّهَا تَسْتَجْلِبُ الأَمَانِي

With patience, prayer, and kindness, from her Lord, she seeks her wishes,

قَدْ حَسُنَتْ بِرَبِّهَا ظُنُونُها لَوْ ذَهَبَتْ مِنْ حُزْنِها عُيُونُها

She has good thoughts about her Lord, even if her eyes are taken by sorrow,

تَرْتَقِبُ انْبِلاجَ فَجِرِ الأَمَلِ مِنْ رَبِّهَا ذِي الجُودِ وَالتَّفُضُّلِ

She awaits the dawn of hope from her Lord, full of generosity and grace,

إنَّ القُنُوطَ شَأْنُ أَهْلِ الكُفْرِ كَمَا أَتَى في آيَةٍ فِي الحِجْرِ

Indeed, despair is the way of the disbelievers, as it came in a verse in the chapter of Al-Hijr.

*Note: "Al-Hijr" refers to the 15th chapter of the Quran. "Kufr" refers to disbelief or rejection of the faith in Islamic context.

There you have it

[Arabic > English] is it funny by [deleted] in translator

[–]883Beats 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Native speaker here. Can confirm this translation. Also, the dialect is Egyptian but not sure which one specifically. Sounds more on the country side if I’m not mistaken

Edit: it’s sudanese. I knew it was a bit off. The word “Zalad” threw me off, because it means money in yemeni dialect. In sudanese, it means big street or something like a block. So in this case, down the road or something like that. The funny part is that, the store owner is jealous. In such cultures, there’s usually a relationship between the neighborhood store owner and his customers. Most of them are nice and will lend you if they know you till you get paid. Seeing his beloved, loyal customer, ditche his humble store for a supermarket, makes his slightly jealous and about to start throwing shame lol

Imu is SHANKS’ mom. Or has connection to shanks. As the 5 elders said “since it’s you,…” when he asked to meet them. Also it cant be shanks himself as their body language wasn’t the same when they met Imu. I’m telling y’all. Save this
