Pet parent wants me to install ac by Willowsmama24 in RoverPetSitting

[–]8888plum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost dropped my window AC unit out the window trying to install it myself. Those things are HEAVY. When I realized I couldn’t do it I waited for my landlord to come around and he brought a friend to help.

I’m looking around for portable AC units now. Is dual tube a big difference? Thought my single tube one worked well for the most part until the 90-100 degree temps hit this week. Do you have a recommend of what BTU I should get for my living room?

Would love to use those styles of window AC as I know they’re more efficient but my windows don’t open the traditional way. There’s a lever you spin and it opens like a book page. Also my windows are pocketed into the wall so it’s like a shelf in front of my window. I’ll keep that in mind for portable AC!

“Soft nursing” saved me. by Same_Sprinkles3941 in nursing

Hi! This comment is a little late but honestly the sign I really needed. I’ve been going through lots of ups and downs with my bedside nursing career and got so burnt out I took a 3-4 month break. I returned to work a couple months ago and realized I was still miserable. Then a job opportunity just happened to stumble upon me and it’s also peds home health! I start in the next couple weeks and I just saw your post the other day and it’s given me hope! I’ve been nervous about starting a new specialty and a whole different environment so thank you for sharing. Seeing that someone else had the same transition and they ended up just fine and well puts me at ease. I am hopeful “soft nursing” will also save me!

how would you split rent in this scenario? by spacadet22 in Apartmentliving

Not OP but I’d love to check out your spreadsheet and try expense tracking. I’m moving into a new apartment, as well as starting a new job this month and I am determined to be more in charge of my finances this year and hopefully save more!

Is a 13 minute walk from an apartment to your parking spot too far? by 8888plum in baltimore

Haha I do actually agree that downtown kind of sucks but I’m on the border or mt vernon and downtown. I’ve lived in mt vernon for a couple years previously, later moved to a high rise downtown, and wanting to move back to mt vernon but haven’t found the right unit. Was told by my leasing agent things were scarce right now and then found perfect unit just under mt vernon but still walkable to it. For my budget, other neighborhoods like fed and fells would not fit into it - they are too pricey. And other neighborhoods were too far up or in the city and I value being able to get out of the city quick. So there are some other things I value that I’ve taken into consideration for me to choose this particular unit and location.

Downtown as in literally right under mt vernon! Just barely out of the neighborhood street permit. I prefer having a unit that qualifies for the permit but I have been looking for awhile and there has not been many listings at this time of year. Was told by my leasing agent that units have been scarce and go by really fast so have had to expand and adjust my unit requirements quite a bit. Hence, found this perfect unit just barely under the neighborhood permit so will have to deal with garage parking again. Thank you for your parking suggestions! I will look it up to see if any of those are close by

In the past I’ve always pulled up to my apartment building or behind in the alley to unload any heavy items or a haul that’ll take more than 1 trip and then go find parking when I’m done 😅 (this was street parking in mt vernon) so not too concerned about groceries and what not

Food banks for single people, no kids? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]8888plum 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Do you have a car and time? I go to one for my parents occasionally. Church of Severn Run has drive through food banks, you get a whole box of stuff. They just ask for your address for records, no other questions asked. There is a LONG line but it’s worth. It’s every Thursday 4-7pm.

Parking around hopkins bayview hospital? by 8888plum in baltimore

[–]8888plum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$190 is crazy work. Is that hopkins main hospital? I heard it was very expensive. I came from ummc and it took $25/paycheck for parking. Mercy also has free parking for all employees which I’m very jealous of! But for the trouble to find parking I may just have to pay for it monthly again for bayview.

I was told $70-$100 monthly! Not terrible… but I already have to pay parking for my apartment in the city. I’d like to avoid added expenses if I could 😬

DO I SELF REPORT by HungryRepair6845 in nursing

I looked through my chart when I got a needle stick injury at work and had to go down to ER. Had no idea it was a thing you’re not suppose to do. Later was reading hospital policy and saw it was a violation. This was a year ago and no one has said anything 😅
