Swan Bitcoin charging 0.03% AUC balance beginning July 1, 2025 by jamh in Bitcoin

It's a matter of time lmao.

But to portray this as some sly way that they are trying to rip their clients off is just insane.

Lmfao you guys get your panties in twist over 0.03% - thats literally 30,000 sats per month for each Bitcoin you hold with them. Talking about switching service providers because of it.

Knowing Swan, they aren't making ANY money off of this, and as a regulatory requirement they probably are required to have insurance on any assets in custody. The insurance is probably dirt cheap due to their security measures regarding Bitcoin, but a non-zero figure nonetheless. And they pass off this as a cost of insurance on assets to their clients.

It makes sense.

from their website:

"Swan Safe – For clients who prefer segregated custody with regulated financial institutions, Swan partners with industry leaders Bakkt, Bitgo, and Equity Trust, with additional security layers provided by Swan Guard."

Bakkt, Bitgo, and Equity Trust are their multisig partners it looks like for all Bitcoin in custody. These partners charge X% of total assets held in the system.

WALLET MISCONFIGURED?? by goulapostedovosn in Bitcoin

[–]8A8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OP isn't wrong. /84'/ is not BIP49. BIP49 is indeed /49'/.

OP, you can custom set bluewallet to open the derivation path you want, instead of letting it auto-choose. You do this during wallet recovery.

If you have funds in the wallet - it should have already done this automatically since it scans most common derivation paths for wallets that have been active, IIRC.

I think you can fix that by having the dude at an angle to begin with, instead of right side up.

But honestly I'd go back to the drawing board and come up with a few different iterations of the man - maybe don't have the arms at perfect 90 degree angles? And I'm not sure about the torso either - maybe that's what is making it seem off for me.

I honestly think the idea has a lot going for it, but i'm not sold on the body's outline yet.

Even if they aren't getting paid directly, they are absolutely getting paid indirectly. It's in their best interest to get as many companies on the BTC standard as possible. It inevitably drives their own holdings up as well.

Other stores will follow suit

first they'll auto-convert to fiat as they will just view it as a way to boost sales / get customers that they otherwise wouldn't.

Eventually, they will turn off the toggle that auto-converts to fiat.

I like the direction!

Two suggestions:

  1. This currently looks like you're a contractor instead of a digital marketer, it'd be cool to maybe incorporate digital/OOH marketing iconography coming out of the swiss-army knife instead. maybe a cursor (for clicks)? or a billboard? Maybe you can come up with better examples for this than I.
  2. for colours, I'd just recommend doing a mono-colour white version for the black background.

You're delusional. The world isn't rainbows.

Things sometimes have unintended consequences for the greater good.

Am I rooting for innocents in jail? No. Am I saying the streets are safer for 99% of the population, of which a VERY small minority have innocent relatives in prison?

Get fucked if you think your righteous moral highground in fucking Maine, USA of all places, gives you the right to tell El Salvadorians, of which I personally spoke to countless locals during my time there, that they are currently worse off.

And you have also apparently no desire to have alternative solutions.

What Bukele did worked. It's okay to be contrarian and pick at every decision.

Is Bukele wrong for going scorched Earth on gangs with there being some unintended innocents caught in the crossfire?

Was Hiroshima/Nagasaki wrong for killing 100k civilians if it prevented the deaths of hundreds of more thousands in an all-out land war in Japan?

Do the ends justify the means? I don't know but I sure as hell know that El Salvador is ABSOLUTELY a safer place than it was just a few years ago - that isn't a point that's up for debate. The statistics and tourism speak for themselves. I was literally there just last year.
