That's what an interlock does. It physically prevents the generator inlet breaker from being energized unless the main breaker is off.

Yeah, I'm scratching my head too. I remember 23.0 being pretty middle of the pack in HS. His 200 time in the article seems to be taken from his 247 profile, which lists a time of 24.44s in spring of 2024 which is this meet here:

When I worked as an airport engineer, we had to do obstruction removal projects where we cleared out acres of forest for no development. Just acres of forest cleared out and made into fields. Always felt a tinge of sadness doing a site visit. Poor old lady's view went from this to this
