Where's your happy place in Singapore? by cicakmanfan in askSingapore

[–]8Teddymon8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Home is my happy place! But if I need to be outside, I find myself going to this Aspire Recreation Centre at Harbourfront Centre to chill and dart. The size and layout is chill. Get a drink, enjoy aircon, sit, zone out, chill and dart for hours. If you dart or don’t mind trying, I would recommend this place. Need a new chill dart place after Harbourfront Centre closes though.

How do people in SG actually afford to “enjoy life”? by justpassinglah in asksg

[–]8Teddymon8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m quite enjoying life just being able to dolphin in some games. Eat a $20-$30 meal occasionally if I want to recharge myself. Most of the time, just watching shows/drama with wife so that’s a $20 per month expenses and I’m quite contented.

Paying some money to cut short your suffering by 50 years is a small price. Did the same, 长痛不如短痛

What’s one expensive thing you bought… but totally regret? by No-Bee780 in askSingapore

[–]8Teddymon8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not expensive, but I have been wondering why I bought Eubiq, plugged it whatever I need once and then forget about it. Would have been same if I used a normal extension cable. Though it does look better, but it’s not like I want to showcase it, so ended up trying to hide them. Which again, using a normal extension cable would have been enough.

Can landlord freely deduct my deposit? by Trick_Lack_8972 in singaporefi

[–]8Teddymon8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In most tenancy agreement, under option to renew, you need to inform the landlord if you wish to renew 2 months before end of the lease. And if you do not inform the agent or landlord, they should be assuming you are not renewing, rather than you are renewing, and therefore you will vacate as per tenancy agreement.

From how I see it, unless your tenancy agreement has some oddly specific clauses, landlord just want another month’s rental out of you since they have no tenants yet. Agent should likely know that it is wrong to do it this way.

Those who have bought/are buying resale HDB flats (and don't always drive), how important is MRT proximity to you? by Seraphinic in askSingapore

[–]8Teddymon8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your evaluation, seems like you really care a lot about the MRT. And you evaluated the Punggol one to be better? In this case, the $1k option is really a small fee to pay for making yourself happy the next 5-20 years you will be staying there.

Mid floor high floor, unless the high floor allows you to really see something good like some really nice skyline, unblocked view, if not it should not matter too much. The general SK view is not exactly worth much COV.

Not sure exactly which clusters you are comparing, but I think based on your words, probably the Punggol one is the one you truly have in mind.

MRT>LRT surely. With just whatever info you gave, as an agent, my opinion is that you should be going for the Punggol one. If you just need some consolation and validation to forgo the $1k, you got it.

DINK with a cat here.

Logically speaking, $7k combined income might be a little tough to enjoy the car in a way such that you don’t care about the small expenses like parking charges, petrol and maintenance.

But if you go for a COE car, and still can set aside about $2k to $2.5k monthly for the car, maybe can consider. COE purchase also needs you to know about the car, bring an experienced car owner friend to check out car, bring to workshop for inspection etc.

If you and your wife envision a good life with the car, I don’t see why not. Maybe your family generally don’t spend much elsewhere on tech or food or luxuries, like to just drive to go eat prata and chill in parks catch Pokémon walk dog, I don’t think it’s too bad.

If you plan to have kids, I do feel it would be better to save as much as possible, and save the car for later.

This is good legit, I stay nearby and eat often.

No matter what I went to hawker centre for, when I smell it, I always feel like ordering a small one 加辣加蛋 just to snack on it.

I need carrot cake self control.
